I'm actually shocked at Leona's votes. She has nothing to say. She doesn't make the songs hers. She doesn't get involved in the writing process.

Good voice? Yes but best British Singer of the decade? Not when Amy Winehouse exists, no.

Also Roisin Murphy is not British.

Nothing to say? Who to? And you might wish to check the writing credits for Echo. ^_^

Sophie Ellis Bextor - should have been so much better - she's clever and interesting but should never have worked with Greg Alexender.

Amy Winehouse - proper songs, proeper voice, proper personality

Duffy - a $h!t Lulu

Natasha Bedingfield - interesting

Adele - $h!t beyond words, horrendous voice

Geri Haliwell - not worth comment

Melanie C - same as Sophie except less clever

Beverley Knight - not into her

Estelle - rubbish

Gabrielle - great voice, should have released an album post Amy and wiped the floor with Duffy and Adele

Lily Allen - interesting and not afraid to p*** peole off

Leona Lewis - great voice, pity about the $h!te songs - apart from Better in Time and Forgive Me which were good

Alexandra Burke - ok voice, not one I want to hear

Dido - horrendous

Katie Melua - nice voice

Alesha Dixon - ok but needs far better songs

Charlotte Church good voice

Cheryl Cole - shouldn't be in this list

Emma Bunton - ok

Roisin Murphy - shes Irish, but clever and interesting and probably one of the best here

And you might wish to check the writing credits for Echo. ^_^

And we all knw no one ever lies about that.

My top 5:

Leona Lewis

Amy Winehouse

Cheryl Cole

Duffy

Alexandra Burke

True. So that possibly applies to everyone. Cant use it against one just to suit an agenda.

True. So that possibly applies to everyone. Cant use it against one just to suit an agenda.

What agenda? I said she had a great voice but she doesn't have an interesting voice.

She's as good as Whitney, Christina, Mariah, Celine but she still not the best British singer of the decade. That has to go to Amy Winehouse eventhought I am only a minor supporter of hers.

As an overall, superb artist you'd have to say Amy Winehouse, she writes her own material, she has an incredible voice and Back to Black is one of the most popular and most talked about albums of the last 10 years. Leona lewis, yes, has an amazing voice but she hasn't worked her way up through the industry, seeking attention of labels, she's been shunned into #1 spot by the power of X Factor, I agree she will go far but it's only because all the song-writers and producers atm are bumming her for her voice, like Rihanna. There's no room for up and coming artist to get a chance in this industry. Example; 'Silly Boy' - Eva Simmons if sung by Gaga, Rihanna, Britney would have been number #1 everywhere, it's the same synthesised pop genre that's doing well, but because it was an unknown artist not from America/UK = no backing, $h!t promotion = epic fail. IMO, of course. ^_^

Kate Bush has had a top 3 single and album this decade - Beverley Knight or the majority of the acts on your list haven't..... Alison Moyet has sold more albums this decade than at least half the list mentioned...so, using your philosophy, then obviously we lose with immediate effect Geri (biggest hits in the 90s, the decade she emerged), Mel C (ditto), Beverley Knight (started in the 90s), Charlotte Church (started out in the 90s and sold more records then), Emma Bunton (same as Geri and Mel C), Gabrielle (she started out and had her biggest hits in the 90s)...?? Are we allowing 90s stars - but omitting 80s ones? Despite the fact many of the 80s acts are actually far outselling the 90s ones mentioned in this list? Eh? Fuzzy logic, surely?

PJ Harvey, by the way, is a SOLO artist. And has sold far more albums this decade than the last.....

Geri indeed scored her biggest hit 'It's raining men' this decade, back in 2001...

Beverley Knight scored a lot of hits this decade including 'Come as you are' and 'Shoulda woulda coulda' which were top 10 hits...and so did the rest of the female singers mentioned in this list... unlike Alison Moyet who hasn't had a hit since the stone age...

The list mentioned here doesn't only include singers that started this decade but also some from the 90's...

and PJ Harvey according to wiki is a band formed by PJ herself and two other musicians...
