030 Ladytron 'Destroy Everything You Touch' - Good

029 Jimmy Eat World 'The Middle' - Classic, reminds me of times gone by.

I agree with that, 'The Middle' just reminds me of when school was good.

The last two minutes of this are amazing <3. But i still think half the songs on the album/Higher Than The Stars EP are better than this though :o. I've heard very little of your top 50, though i recognise the name of every artist in it, bar The National.

Their whole album is very impressive to be honest, 'Young Adult Friction' is my favourite by them though, probably because it was the song that got me into them.

My posts look so weird without Little Boots next to them any more! :(

025 Daft Punk 'Digital Love' (#2 of 2001)

Daft Punk are a great band and this has long been one of my favourites of theirs. I find that it includes a lot of different styles and it's a very intruiging song, the minimalistic vocal and the guitar solos are great. More dance songs should use them.

love Digital Love, was a #1 in my chart  great start to the top 25 :cheer:

024 PNAU ft Ladyhawke 'Embrace'

I'd rather liked Ladyhawke for a while and had never heard of PNAU until I heard this. I was instantly hooked, I hate the overuse of the word but it really is epic. However, the radio edit does it absolutely no justice whatsoever. The full version is five and half minutes long but could easily be longer. I wish this were big, or I at least heard it somewhere. I'd love to be the only person screaming the lyrics to it whilst making a pillock of my drunken self. :(

023 The Libertines 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun'

One of the decades defining anthems. Commercially the Libertines weren't a massive success but they opened the door and paved the way for others, leaving a massive impact and legacy in a short space of time. This has always been my favourite song of theirs. I never hear this get a bad reaction wherever its played.

022 Muse 'Butterflies and Hurricanes' (#3 of 2004)

Muse are an always an act I'd quite liked who's songs are usually decent and occasionally they produce something thats beyond stunning. This is one of those songs. It wasn't something I'd paid much attention to when it was released, it was almost hidden being the fifth song off 'Absolution' to be a single. But over time it grew on me massively, I love the way it builds and builds, that's when Muse are at their best.

021 M83 'Kim & Jessie'

I'd never heard M83 until they released this last year, when I just picked a couple of current singles by acts I'd never heard of and downloaded them. It was one of the best spontaneous choices I've ever made. By the end of the year I was completely in love with it and it finished as my year end number two. It's only the fourth placed 2008 single in this now, but I still love it as much as I ever did.

025 Daft Punk 'Digital Love' - Very good

024 PNAU ft Ladyhawke 'Embrace' - Very good

023 The Libertines 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' - Amazing

022 Muse 'Butterflies and Hurricanes' - Amazing

021 M83 'Kim & Jessie' -Very good

Great start.

020 Bat for Lashes 'Daniel'

With five songs in the top 20, it could be seen that I've favoured songs from this year too much. But whilst this year hasn't been vintage, at the top it's been as good as any other year. One of those songs is this, 'Daniel' by Natasha Khan. Her debut album was impressive, but there was nothing on there I adored. Then I heard this, it was very different from what she's done before, and far more accessible. But I thought it was a lot better too. The use of synths added mystery to her music and her vocal remains as beautiful as ever. Oh, and video of the year.

019 The Horrors 'Who Can Say'

After the 8 minute masterpiece 'Sea Within A Sea' album 'Primary Colours' was always going to be top of my 'To download' list. I wasn't really expecting it to be of the same quality and same sound, but surprisingly it was. The instant standout from the album was this, 'Who Can Say', and I was delighted that this were to be the second single. After I'd been charting this for a few weeks and it had started to fall again I thought to myself "I might regret this not being a number one". It didn't have a bad chart run, 9 weeks in the top 5 (05-03-02-02-03-03-04-04-05) is pretty exceptional. But its kept growing on me throughout the year and I certainly do regret it now. It's something that I always pay close attention to the lyrics when listening. It's so wonderfully heartfelt, nothing more so than the lyrical sample from Jay & The American's 1962 single 'She Cried'.

And when I told her I didn't love her anymore

She cried

And when I told her her kisses were not like before

She cried

And when I told her another girl had caught my eye

She cried

And then I kissed her with a kiss

That could only mean goodbye

come to my Asda, I always play it over the speakers at work

I have heard 'Daniel' once I think, can't remember it. The Horrors song is good, but not amazing.

018 Sigur Ros 'Hoppipolla' (#2 of 2005)

The only song in the 200 to feature vocals which aren't English. Sigur Ros are often an act that bore me, I bought last years 'Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust' album and despite trying five times, never managed to make it through the whole album. I guess the music is quite hard to get into though, especially if you don't understand what the lyrics are. And even though I've no idea what they are in this, it's angelic and beautiful and it's so easy to get lost in. It's also now the soundtrack to anything and everything.
