November 4, 200915 yr 149 Kings of Leon 'Use Somebody' - Only song of theirs I really like. Really good saying that. 148 Glasvegas 'Daddy's Gone' - Their best song also 147 LCD Soundsystem 'Someone Great' - Really good but it hasn't got as much attention from me as your other entry from them (which is amazing) 146 Pendulum 'Slam' - Tired of Pendulum but this is still their best in my eyes. 142 Blink-182 'I Miss You' - Different from their other songs, they have never been a band I've fully got into I just like their singles alot. Also here are Maximo Park with their deubt single from late '04, White Stripes with a song accompnained by one my favourite videos of the decade, and there are first appearences for Guillemots and TV On The Radio too. Stereophonics UK#1 'Dakota' is the last great song they made, they've been distictly average since. Ash are a very underrated band but I do find that it's their most known songs that are my favourites, 'Burn Baby Burn' being one of them. 'Pogo' was a song I thought was good, but didn't love upon original release, but then they re-released it as a remix package last year and the Shinichi Osawa remix took the song to a new level of brilliance and was by far my favourite. Most people seem to forget about 'For Lovers' when talking about Pete Doherty, but the #7 single is certainly amongst his finest work and showed a different side to him, it's beautiful. Most surprising here though, for me at least, is the inclusion of The Enemy. After 5 releases from their debut album, none of which I'd been overly impressed with, I decided they were vastly overexposed for such an average band, so never even bothered to hear their next two singles. I then got free tickets to see them live at the beginning of this year and they were excellent, and I've really changed my opinion of them. An ode to distictly average British towns, 'We'll Live And Die In These Towns' is a song I've constantly listened to since and is truly uplifting, even if it is practically 'Going Underground' at a different tempo. Shame I never did check it out. 6j7huh5Egew oLY0eUtVlXo

Agree with Pendulum, I'm not so bothered about them now. They seem to have become overrated now, and their last album was crap bar 'Propane Nightmares'.
November 4, 200915 yr I'm proud to say that I'm one of the few who loved (and charted high) 1,2,3,4 before the iPod advert exposure :D great selections again, although I can't now listen to Use Somebody without thinking of the atrocious Ultrabeat version :(
November 4, 200915 yr 140 Maximo Park 'The Coast Is Always Changing' - Not my favourite of theirs but good nonetheless 139 Feist '1234' - Really good, I think most people on ChC knew it before the iPod thing, still my favourite of hers. 137 Guillemots 'Made Up Love Song #43 - Don't like their newest album, this is good even if I do rarely listen to them. 135 White Stripes 'Seven Nation Army - Scrapes into being liked, don't really liek the band and they only have 2 or 3 singles that I really like. 134 Ash 'Burn Baby Burn' - Pretty good 133 TV On The Radio 'Dancing Choose' - Amazing, they were my first and most successful Unknown Pleasure with 'Wolf Like Me' coming 2nd in 2006, this new album is better overall though and this is my fave from it. 132 Stereophonics 'Dakota' - Their best. 131 Digitalism 'Pogo' [shinici Osawa Remix] - Not heard the remix but the original is grand, will check out. Oasis? Coldplay? Arctic Monkeys? Franz Ferdinand? How Virgin Absolute Radio!! 'Songbird' is an Oasis song I've always felt was a bit odd, as it sounds so unlike them, it's very different and that's probably why I like it so much. The song above is the second appearence for The Knife, with 'Marble House', but will they appear again later?? It's surely a cert! Speaking of acts with three songs in the countdown, The Futureheads and Muse both make their first appearences. 'Area' is something of a rarity these days, a standalone between album single which wasn't then placed on a re-issue! For a band I'm so fond of, it seems odd Arctic Monkeys should have just the one entry, but like Bloc Party they seem to have kept my favourites unreleased. Coldplay are a band I think get unnecessary stick, they're not great but they're far from being bad. They've made some great songs and 'The Scientist' is certainly one of them, it's not my favourite single of theirs though.... Franz Ferdinand's debut is also here, with what would now probably have been a 'hype' single from 2003. Fans of The Inbetweeners may recognise 'Girls & Boys In Love', which made an appearence in that a couple of times. Released in the saturated indie market in 2007 I thought the Strips might have been a success given that they were so different to all the generic stuff that was about at the time. Late of the Pier have their second entry from the vastly underrated 'Fantasy Black Channel' and the little known Delgados make an appearence with 'Everybody Come Down'. It could so easily have been a hit. SMcl_KCKOO8 R7oqid7CxL8

It was a top 3 single for me before the ads. Oh God I saw the video to that a coulpe of weeks ago. It was beyond hideous. :puke: I was watching it with a mate and we kept it on in aghast, it was then followed by a similar naff euro-cheese version of 'Ayo Technology'. Never before has 50 Cent been made to sound so good!
November 4, 200915 yr Darts of Pleasure :o I forgot Franz once made a few good songs. and obviously Area
November 4, 200915 yr What a fabulous countdown. I either LOVE a song or haven't heard it. :heehee:

Agree with the Guillemots albums, 'Red' was pretty disappointing overall, though it does have its moments. I'm similar with the Stripes too, they tend to have one song off each album I really love, and the rest I don't really like at all. 'Wolf Like Me' was a personal chart #1 for me in '06... ^_^
November 4, 200915 yr Author Darts of Pleasure :o I forgot Franz once made a few good songs. and obviously Area  Yeah Franz used to be epic. Although I did actually prefer their second album to their first, it's just they made abysmal single choices. 'The Fallen' was good but the other three were the three on he album I think are about the weakest. 'Area' is fantastic, Futurheads have been consistantly great really.

November 4, 200915 yr I recognised The Rumble Strips song, it's played loads at Asda, during 2007 particularly nearly every song they played in there was flop indie, although of course in 2006/2007 this meant a #18 hit not a #189 hit as it means in 2009 that's one of the better ones though, I think I heard it in there last only a couple of weeks back actually so they must have liked it to keep playing it now! I didn't like Songbird at all, Stop Crying Your Heart out was the only single I liked from Heathen Chemistry
November 4, 200915 yr Add this to the ones I like: 136 Wolfman ft Pete Doherty 'For Lovers' 127 The Futureheads 'Area' - Brilliant, they really are great band, shame it went a bit wrong for them. 126 Oasis 'Songbird' - Alright, I went through a spell of liking Oasis but tbh they just pissed me off for several years before their split. 124 Arctic Monkeys 'Fluorescent Adolescent' - Fantastic, I do LIKE the new album but I get why people don't they need to go back to writing about Sheffield and everyday things. 123 Late of the Pier 'Space and The Woods' - By far their best I think, never really GOT the album. 122 Coldplay 'The Scientist' - Definitely in my top 3 Coldplay songs, maybe even numero uno! 121 Muse 'Bliss' - Marvellous

Never before has 50 Cent been made to sound so good! went to #8 for me first time around and then #2 when the advert came out...purely because it made me listen more to the track as it was forced upon me all the time, as opposed to me liking it more than before I completely agree, both of those covers are the worst Clubland songs I've heard...they've jumped straight from the naff 80's covers to covers of songs that aren't even a year old...i.e. completely unnecessary
November 4, 200915 yr 'Area' is fantastic, Futurheads have been consistantly great really. which is one reason why they are the greatest indie band. oh and also i noticed you included 'Just Because' by Janes Addiction, I didnt have you down as a Janes fan ;o i cant say Just Because is great though, older JA is much better, but I saw them with the original line up earlier this year, they were good.

I didn't like Songbird at all, Stop Crying Your Heart out was the only single I liked from Heathen Chemistry Asda have taste! :D 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' wasn't a bad song, but I don't think it's particularly great. It's nice enough.

'You Don't Know Me is a wonderfully poppy and uplifting song, which I discovered at the back end of last year, and has just kept growing and growing on me as the year hass gone on. Five that most people might recognise here, from Queens of the Stone Age, Chili Peppers and Dandy Warhols which, like most people, I didn't know until the advert, as well as number one singles from Eminem and Roger Sanchez, one of my favourite number one singles of all time and a great summer anthem! Also appearing are Van She from earlier this year, White Lies who I didn't really get until I heard the album, The Futureheads again, and a great lost gem from Placebo. FRgQns-TJGM n9G1bodzjbs

From said year, Gorillaz long running #2 'Feel Good Inc' is the unlucky song just failing the top make the top 100. Also from that year are The Subways with their one great song, Doves, one of my top three most consistantly great acts of the decade, The Bravery who are better than the sub-par Killers people would have you believe and The Pipettes, who's debut album was my soundtrack to the following summer. There are second and final appearences for The Long Blondes, MGMT and Kasabian (with my current personal chart #1) as well as entries from Interpol with the lead track off 'Interpol EP' and Blur, whose 90s quality persisted into this decade with the beautiful 'Out of Time'. fkJLNBHFo-g NRir5AyF6dQ
