Yes she is a phenomenon in the UK! I thought she was in Ireland too

Fight For This Love was the 5th best selling single of 2009 and the fastest selling, so she's very big here too. 3 Words and Parachute were both top ten also.

Well, in a dispute Cheryl Cole vs Rihanna, I sincerely hope the UK phenomenon over "Promise This" spreads out in here as Ireland's chart is sadly dominated by American overrated r&b crap. Even though Rihanna's hardly a US artist singing r&b recently, I still much prefer Cheryl Cole's songs.

Yeah you're right, she's hardly a US artist. Because she's from Barbados

No more so than the UK, Australia, New Zealand etc. <_<

In fact, the Irish and UK top 20 is practically identical at the moment.

Definitely more than the UK. Even though at the moment both charts may look similarly, over the last few months US artists have fared relatively better in Ireland than in the UK. It's particularly visible comparing the entries every week. Ireland picks up almost all US urban ones out of the pack that debuts in Britain.

That's what I meant, hardly from US and hardly singing r&b on Only Girl but in general considered as part of the mainstream US urban flow.

Where is cheryl and rihanna on the irish itunes?

No, the ratings are quite significantly higher than they were for the first season. And they really weren't. Only 15 songs (out of 88) went Top 20:

  • 'Gives You Hell' (#1)
  • 'Like a Prayer' (#2)
  • 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' (#3)
  • 'Don't Stop Believin'' (#4)
  • 'Halo' / 'Walking on Sunshine' (#4)
  • 'It's My Life' / 'Confessions, Pt. II' (#6)
  • 'Jessie's Girl' (#8)
  • 'Somebody to Love' (#10)
  • 'Bad Romance' (#10)
  • 'Run Joey Run' (#12)
  • 'Gold Digger' (#15)
  • 'True Colours' (#15)
  • 'Poker Face' (#16)
  • 'Take a Bow' (#19)
  • 'Defying Gravity' (#19)
And so far 4 songs (out of 24) from the current season have gone Top 20 in Ireland:

  • 'Billionaire' (#15)
  • 'Toxic' (#17)
  • 'Telephone' (#18)
  • 'Empire State of Mind' (#20)

Not top-1000.

53. Second Chance (feat. Taio Cruz) - Tinchy Stryder & Taio Cruz (+3)

61. Insatiable - Nadine (+12)

71. One In a Million - Ne-Yo (+16)

95. Happiness - Alexis Jordan (+199)

I like the Irish now, since Rihanna's song is better than Cheryl's, it deserves #1 big time.

Cheryl's currently #1 on the Irish iTunes, not Rihanna.
