Ooh, what's on it?

I guess my mention of Kikki reminded you of that Peter? :kink:

Haha it wasn't actually, it just came on shuffle on my iPhone as I was coming to the computer yesterday! Yes, from the Absolute Schlager album :D

I much prefer disc one to disc two, I just can't get into some of the really dated schlager but I love everything on the first disc apart from the still awful Las Vegas...I'm not mad about the Christer Bjorkman song either but it's alright

Wow :o I NEED that album! And I really want that Singstar too. I'm a huge fan actually, got all the UK PS3 ones (except Queen and Take That - yet) and about 10 PS2 ones. There is a PS3 one called Svenska Starjnor (sp?) that has even more schlager-pop anthems, even Agnes and EMD (not the best songs but hey):

2. Vicky Leandros - Don't Break My Heart

It's schlager ballad time!! Vicky participated in Eurovision twice for Luxembourg in 1967 and 1972, winning the second time with "Apres Toi." She is perhaps most famous in Germany, so she was invited to try out in 2006 for them. I call this song German even though it is performed and co-written by Vicky who is Greek, but since her enduring success has been in Germany and schlager isn't really a Greek thing, I think I can get away with it. Texas Lightning was my favourite entry of 2006 and I still wanted this to beat it; just to illustrate how much I love this song!

Yep, they would  And Jerick, the answer is: phonetically (by sound) :kink:

1. Birthe Kjaer - Vi Maler Byen Rod

So here we are, my all time schlager favourite, and one of my all time favourite Eurovision songs (it's so catchy!). This is not Gloria Hunniford, it's Birthe Kjaer, who shares my birthday (obviously not to the year), and entered the year I was born. This came 3rd losing to my all time least favourite winner "Rock Me." It possibly wins the prize for the campest performance of all time, in anything, and would have to win my prize for greatest Eurovision gimmick of all time.

It's written by Soren from Hot Eyes who is also on stage. The orchestra makes it so much better than the studio version too...seriously if you've not heard or seen this, just sit back and enjoy but beware, you'll be humming it all night!! It starts at around 1:40 in the video.

LOL that's so adorably stereotypically Swedish

nice No.1 :D

Scandinavia love their aging schalger-queens don't they  the ones featured in your countdown, and the average Swedish representative this decade has been about 42 years old :heehee:

Cute song...but cheesy as hell  Catchy, but it also sounds like the kind of thing stereotyped as being Eurovision :(

You cannot defeat the golden tripartite of Lena, Carola and Charlotte  I think we ought to have a vote on which one is the best :heehee:

I love it, mainly because of its cheesyness...the song just makes me so incredibly happy

Malena made it four :w00t: she's the same age as Perrelli I think

I really don't know who I'd pick out of those three to be honest...probably Carola as I find her hilarious

She's the same age as Carola was when she entered, and a few years older than Catwoman.

Shockingly, she's only a year older than Sakis!!

Sakis looks incredibly good for his age in that case :o I thought he was about 31/32!

Caroline Af Ugglas is 36 or 37 too, another aging lady who did very well in MF!
