Based on a very very very very very very very good comic of the same name by Mark Millar, (with art from the amazing John Romita Jr).

Basically it's about this teenager who don's a costume and just goes out and beats the $h!t out of people causing crime, no superpowers at all.

It's great to see more underground comics to be discovered like this, rather than another $h!tty superman film, we get this, take from a decent comic, thats not mainstream, looks like it will be good too.

Got McLovin in :D looks like it has a lot of comedy aspects, looks decent.

Love the use of 'Bad Reputation' in the trailer, reminds me of 'Freaks and Geeks'.

Can't wait for this :w00t: There are also two new trailers and a few posters as well. I'm loving Christopher Mintz-Plasse, but I think everyone is awesome. This is clearly going to be the Superbad/The Hangover style suprise-hit of 2010. It's out over here btw on 16th April.

Here's a full synopsis courtesy of Moviehole,

"[Kick-Ass] tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson from "Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging"), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There’s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers whatsoever.

His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes -- including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) -- and forges a friendship with another fledgling crimefighter, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse aka 'McLovin'). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong, "Sherlock Holmes"), that new alliance will be put to the test."

Sorry I'm an obsessive geek like that , Just in case people read this thread without knowing anything about it (which granted won't be many).

I know me and my friends were laughing so hard at that bit, Hit-Girl is amazing. The bits that stood out for me from the trailers was when Kick-Ass is practicing being a hero and he says “Oh no, I’m just standing around you know (pulls out weapon) No, I’m not! Ahhhh!” and Nicolas Cage's laugh after he says he should call himself Ass-Kick instead gets me every time. I also love the bit where they meet in the alley, and Red-Mist and Kick-Ass greet eachother all serious and then Red-Mist jumps from the dumpster and he's like 'Oh, that kinda hurt'. I adore Christopher-Mintz Plasse

And I have to get the comics, I don't think I can wait much longer for the film.

i was gonna link the youtube but my net is playing up of when one of my favourite directors/general people in the world, Kevin Smith was on newsnight and there was like 2 feminists complaining about hit girl, and then theres Kevin Smith (comic nerd) just like 'i just thought it was a great comic book', he says he is gonna take his young daughter to see it!

Really? I need to watch that clip  Kick-Ass was always going to attract some negative attention because of hit girl, but all it will do is help generate the buzz. I showed my bother and my friends the trailers and they are already sold. This is going to be the cult hit of 2010, people are going to be quoting it like mad.

And yes I adore Kevin Smith also

And I'm going to check out Mark Millar and the comics, I can see it becoming another obsession of mine. As if I needed anymore.

True, some of the violence in the trailers is very intense, but they might try and push for a 15 release to get as many teenagers as they can to watch it. And same, if it is 18 it will the first one I'll ee at the cinema. I'm getting old now :P

7 months and 16 days (come midnight) for me and yup scary $h!t indeed. I will have to sneak in to see Kick-Ass ninja style, but it will be worth it. This has to be the first 18 rated film I see on the big screen :D

I think it will be Rated R in the US. Which means it will be 17+.

started re-reading the comics. I forget how much I relate to Kick Ass (obvs not as Kick Ass, but he is basically me other wise).

Still need to get the comics, so behind with everything.

Also Kick Ass is on the front cover of Empire, which is doing a big feature on the film. The cover also fold out, with a picture of Hit Girl and Big Daddy. It looks pretty damn cool. The film has also being given an R rating in America.
