Have you ever bought an album after hearing a great song from it thinking (hoping?) the album would be as great as the song? However, after listening to it a few times, it turns out to be utter tosh.

For instance I bought the album “Fin de Siecle” by Divine Comedy because I loved the song “National Express”, but I soon found out it was the only track I liked.

I was tempted to buy the Feeling's "Twelve stops and home" because I liked the songs "Fill my little world" and "Never be lonely", but when I previewed them on youtube I found that it was those two and another song ("Rose" I think) were the ones I liked.

Also Sara Bareilles' "Little voice". One full preview on youtube showed me that "Love song" was the only one.

erm.... hi .... this forum is RETRO, that is all things pre 2000. :)

i bought focus 'moving waves', cockney rebels 'the psychomodo' , wizzards 'wizards brew', all of which failed to live up to my expectations of them and subsequently tainted my album buying .

"Creep" by Radiohead - Great tune, but "Pablo Honey" - sure was one mediocre album.....

"If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next" by Manics - again, good song, the album it came ("This is My Truth Tell me Yours") from was unbelievably bland and uninspiring apart from maybe two other songs....

"Ten Storey Love Song" and "Love Spreads" by Stone Roses - fantastic tunes, but "Second Coming" was such a HUGE let down overall....
