November 18, 200916 yr a few changes today in the album chart, for those doubting leona holding number 1 i think todays clearly shows she will be number 1 come sunday and and should have sales of around 185,000 i think. Where are Bon Jovi in todays update? that would give Echo 3rd best overall sales in a week this year and top female artist weekly sales this year. flop indeed ! :rolleyes:
November 18, 200916 yr Found the figures in Mikey's week by week stats (nice one Mikey): Top 10 weekly sales this year (rounded): 1 JLS 240k 2 Robbie 238k 3 Eminem 167k 4 U2 157k 5 Muse 148k 6 Alex burke 132k 7 Cheryl cole 125k 8 Michael J 113k 9= Lily Allen 112k 9= Michael buble 112k So LL selling above 112k will put her in top 10 fastest selling album artists this year. Hardly what you'd expect from a 'flop' !! Whilst true, I think it's unfair to compare to other album releases earlier in the year. Sales are laregly inflated around this time of year due to the run-up for Christmas (which is why i'm suprised Leona's album is not doing better) and a good 1/3 of the those artists didn't perform on the biggest show on British TV. Of course her album is not a flop by any standards, the sales are still good, and there's still 2/3 singles to come plus all the extra hype she'll get from Avatar + Final Fantasy XIII, but her inital sales must surely be a disappointment to Syco considering the massive success of Spirit...

Fair points and I agree. No other real way to highlight that Leona does have a huge fan base still (sadly, otherwise I could have her all to myself !!) in response to some of the shouts of 'flop!' from a minority on here. Hasn't done so well as Spirit when she was 'all the rage', she is no longer 'of the moment' so does not pick up the 'fans of XF' purchases, they are busy with JLS and Cheryl. don't think Syco would have expected anything much more. Hats off to Robbie though for his sales

But as i previously said for leona, its definately not a flop, its just not as good as a lot of people expected. Love Lily and agree sales at that level at the time of year, brilliant. Shame Simon Coward doesn't release a leona album away from Christmas and X-Factor time, see how much she sells then. Personally I think it may drop her sales by a maximum of 50% and all the "its only because of XFactor she is selling" brigade would have to shutup as that would give her a very respectable figure for that time (In a way its what happened with GA and enabled them to 'break' the PSTR tag.) November 18, 200916 yr great sales for Leona... it's far from being a flop, it's a huge success...considering the fact that her 'Spirit' album is still selling well and that 'Echo' hasn't produced a number 1 single yet, and that album sales overall are decreasing...
