To be honest, everyone in the world knew that Susan Boyle would be enormous - so I'm not too surprised, or disappointed that she's in the lead (and from what I've heard - the album is quite good). It is a bit irksome to be behind Westlife ... but having said that 10K isn't much of a margin. The sales for the live album are great ... and if I'm honest .... if it wasn't for the Abbey Road CD ... I'd have made do with the DVD. Those sales for Westlife - for a studio album - are nothing to write home about.

LOL, i am not upset that the Westolife and Susan are ahead of them ( i am actually still surprise that TT are in 3 positiion after all!). That is normal for a live CD. What nerves myself is how they put now as if for Westlife and Susan would be a great achievment to beat a live album. I am curious: how many live albums did better in the first week this year?

They got hardly attention for the CD, as all eyes were more on DVD, also a lot of TT fans seems to beleive tha the DVD sell will add to the CD and they didn't bother to buy it. While i saw everywhere articles about WL and Susan, i saw none about the album ....I knew it will be tricky to sell on the cd the same songs as on DVD and i still think they would have done better if they would have pot a new song on the abbey CD...

So, all in all is a big achievement to sell as much they sell with a live album, i am completly happy with how much they sold i predictetd kind of max 150k in total without a new song on the album if i am not wrong? But if the papers will go along how great WL is now because they beat TT i will scream :puke2:

The live album has done absolutly fantastic already even if it never sold another copy, what the westlife followers or press backing westlife should take note of is that this is as such a comeback album for westlife, brand new studio album with huge amounts of promotion, they are outselling a live album by take that that has no new material, most of the material comes from albums that have sold 2 million plus each that has an accomlmen dvd that is flying of the shelves yet westlife are only 10k ahead. If this was a brand new studio album by take that like westlife;s is i have no doubt take that would be number 1 this and would outsell susan boyles 2nd weeks sales with no problem at all.

The live album will go pplatnum no problem at all and this is a fantastic achievement for a live album as we have all said before live album in general dont do very well.

Don't forget either ... their Singstar is number 2 in the games chart. It has already outsold the Abba Singstar by quite a bit ... so in all ... I think Howard, Mark, Gary & Jason will have a very, very, very Merry Christmas!

Yes once again it has been a hugely successful year for them and they will indeed have plenty to celebrate this christmas and new year. There was a take that special shown on irish tv tonight for an hour before x factor, it was about how they formed where they started, right through to the break up and the big comeback, it was enjoyable to watch and i think it may givethem a sales boost here in Ireland this week aswell.

I think that you are right about that. The Irish chart is a bit odd at the best of times. The two new albums only went to number 1 after TT made television performances. I imagine that the live album may go up a few places next week.

Yes neither beautiful world or the circus made a number 1 debut in Irelabdm both rose to number 1 after they appeared on the late late show which is the most watched show in ireland, the tv shwo this evening will not have half the impact of that show but none the less it should help.

WOW number 3 debut for the live album and sales over 123,000, im so so impressed and delighted with this.Onl had a quick glance at the charts as i have alot on toinight but rule the world has climbed to number 57 with sales of near 5,000, the circus i think is number 51 and the ultimate colection has climbed to number 63 i think, great week for take that as im sure the dvd is also still number 1.

Cut this bit from the Music Week report on page 1 of the Sales thread (main page Chart Chat).

Take That are the decade’s fifth biggest selling albums act, and their new concert set The Greatest Day: The Circus Live debuts at number three.

It arrives a year to the week after their last album – the studio set The Circus – made a sensational debut, with first week sales of 432,490. The Greatest Day: The Circus Live includes live versions of nine of The Circus’ 12 tracks, plus seven other, older songs, and a second CD comprising tracks recorded at EMI’s Abbey Road studio.

It sold a comparatively small 123,312 copies last week – though, in mitigation, that’s the highest weekly tally for a live set in more than a decade. Concert recordings rarely sell even in these quantities, and the album did have its thunder stolen by the DVD version of the release, which debuted at number four on the video chart last week, and now slips to number seven, having sold 287,738 copies to date.

.... and although it has dropped in the main DVD chart - it is obviously still number 1 in the music DVD chart!

The sales for the dvd are amazing, probably releasing the live album and live cd at the same time may hamper sales eitherway, however on syaing that both are selling amazingly well, and i dont think anyone could be disapointed with the sales of the dvd or the live album and they both have loads of sales left in them yet.

With last weeks sales added in the circus album is now just under 53,000 away from from 2 million, last week it sold about 10,000,

The album is #7 in the midweeks and now place above westlife's brand new studio album, if take that stay around number 7 sales should be in or around 70,000 which will bring them past 200,000
The sales for the DVD and album are amazing! Thanks for keeping us updated on the sales figures. I think I have decided to buy the DVD first and then the album later.

From all accounts both are well worth buying, i have bough tboth myself but have decided to hold them back and look forward to them at christmas itself.

I notice on the adverts that the live album The Greatest Day is 'for a limited period only'. Does that mean they're going to do with it what they did with The DeLuxe Beautiful World edition? If so ... that'll mean it will only be on sale for a few more weeks and will probably be deleted after Christmas probably. They were daft with that idea too for the DLBW - BW could have been on sales of 3 million by now if they hadn't done that. I think it was either just before, or the week after Christmas 2007 - you couldn't buy it in the shops - one shop I went to even had a bloody great notice saying 'Sorry ... this album has now been deleted'. And the reason I know this is, although I had my own copy, I was trying to buy one for my niece who's birthday is just after Christmas! Luckily, her dad had bought it on Amazon as soon as it came out.

I agree i think they should have have left beautiful world deluxe as ongoing and it would have definitly sold alot more. I hope they dont do with the live album as if they do its likely it will be deleted as soon as x mas ends, even though most of its sales will be in by then im sure it will sell in dribs and draps after that.

The album is tsill top 10 in the midweeks and im hoping the sales remain high again this week, i think we are all very pleased with the sucess of the album and dvd so far.

The live album drops 5 places to number 8 this week, still happy with this as all going well sales should be at the lowest 70,000.
