I remember doing one of these for AWC, so I'm going to bring it back because of the stats hound in me. ^_^ Here are the current rankings according to Amazon US.

CD version: #123

CD/DVD version: #193

It's low, but what do you expect when you try and sell the same music to the same people all over again? With some new material, this release would have been substantial.

It's a bit of an odd release this one. Compilations are either done by the record company with no contribution by the artist. Or they are done with full involvement of the artist - new music, photoshoot, single release, promotion etc. Paint the sky with stars fell into the latter category.

This new 'best of' doesn't fall into the former category though. There has been involvement by Aigle but it seems to be limited. I'm not expecting there to be any promotion other than the odd tv advert showing clips of previous videos. I'm not expecting it to be a big seller. I think perhaps they should have waited until after the next studio album.

I think those are okay numbers considering that there is basically no promotion and these are pre-order rankings. I think once the CD is actually released and the official Christmas shopping starts (Black Friday in the states), sales may pick up.

It is quite low, but like people have said, it's to be expected really. Here are the current positions in the UK chart on Amazon...

CD: #86

CD/DVD: #215

We'll have to see on Tuesday just how high it's going in the charts!

It could be the first Enya album to not make the top ten in the UK. Which is a shame really.
Does anyone know if the new version of Aniron was prepared especially for this release?
I'm not sure Ben. But yeah I can't see this making the UK top ten tbh. It would've been the ninth overall, but I think this will only make the lower ends of the top 40 in all honesty. Then again, Enya often pulls it out of the bag somehow and manages to get a decent chart position with little or no promotion, and we'll know in a few hours time how the first day of sales have gone!
Set to miss the top 40 in the UK this week, according to early sales figures...
Ok she's actually sitting at #40 currently. Let's hope it doesn't slide out...
Im so so disapointed with the number 40 midweek position, i never expected it to chart so low to be honest, im really hoping it will climb during the week and hopefully top 30, i just hope it doesnt debut outside the top 40 altogether.
Enya albums tend to rise up as the opening week goes on... well, the past two have anyway! I remember Amarantine starting out the week at #10 and being #8 on the Sunday, and And Winter Came started off the week at about #15 or #16 but debuted at #6 the following Sunday. It could climb ten places or so I suppose...

I hope that happens, but i think the biggest problem is Enya is getting completly over looked by so many new releases, and x factor is playing such a huge force in the charts as anyone who performs generaly gains very well from it, i would have loved enya to perform on x factor and bring her music to a new audience but that wont happen unfortunatly.

I hope the album climbs and more importantly i hope it can sell steadily right through the christmas period as if it does it could net some decent sales. Her last album and winter came has sold just over 258,000 in total which is decent enough i just dread this best of album could sink right out of the charts very quickly.

I know there are factors that may get in the way of sales (such as her competition and the fact there isn't really new material on the CD), but I'm going to try and remain optimistic. ^_^
Going from todays midweek update the best up has climbed and its noe #37 so i hope it keep going in that direction and if it does it might scrape top 30 come sunday.
I too have thought about how wonderful it would be if Simon Cowell got Enya on X Factor. She's globally big enough but the UK music industry just doesn't seem to accommodate people like Enya anymore. Plus she would have to sing live and she may not want to do that. But it would be great exposure for her.
