A bit like last year's winning song by Alexandra Burke being a cover of the then USA huge hit single "Just Dance".

Sorry, what? I guess you're talking about this as a hypothetical situation actually :heehee:

I hadn't thought about the Glee connection, but yep, that's very clever, and slightly evil :arrr:

I didn't say it was false

All I said was that you chose to believe an article from The Sun after decrying those who "believe every word that is written in a Rupert Murdoch newspaper " are "brain dead morons"

I chose my words very deliberately using the phrase that journalist/writer and presenter Charlie Brooker used to describe fans of reality TV shows such as X-Factor and Big Brother which he lampooned superbly in his satire "Dead Set".

On one of his BBC4 shows Newswipe he has done several episodes de-mystifying the news as to which Public Relation Officers are aligned to which Newspapers and journalists; and therefore if a certain story is posted in a newspaper about a certain topic then its reliability can be measured by the source and whom has likely planted it.

As I said Public Relations guru Max Clifford (who is PR to Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole) has a very good relationship with Rupert Murdoch Inc, therefore if a story appears in The Sun newspaper about the X-Factor, then it is very likely it has been "planted" by (or indirectly) on the go ahead of Max Clifford, even if the story is deliberate misinformation to manipulate public opinion or in this case to get a feel of public opinion so they can change their minds over the ultimate song selection.

Hence if this story had been in the Daily Mirror I would have not have given it any credibility. In the same way that a story regarding as examples the BBC show Dr Who, or regarding Liverpool FC appeared in The Sun I would not believe it, but if it appeared in the Daily Mirror then they would be a lot more credible.

Where is Steve Mac when he's really needed?

how about winner doing a cover of White Flag.......... it would make PeterJB's day, a Dido song back in the charts :heehee:

or perhaps everyone not involved with XFactor should release their own versions of White Flag, a symbol of their surrender of the Christmas number 1 spot to X Factor forever

*It's been confirmed 'The Climb' is the Winners Song.

Would be great if the original contended for the #1 ;).

Oh sorry silly me.

The Sun's exclusives regarding Hallelujah as the 2008 X-Factor winning song; and the Sun exclusive about When You Believe being the 2007 X-Factor winning song; and the Sun exclusive about A Moment Like This all turned out to be false didn't they.

Simon Cowell is tied in with Rupert Murdoch Inc (especially as his PR is Rupert Murdoch who has fed the Sun newspaper rather a lot of stories over the years), hence he has given the Sun rather a lot of exclusives over the years to test the water for feedback so he can do a last minute switch or not if he chooses.

Hence, unlike most things in that right-wing propaganda rag that hates Scousers, I would be strongly inclined to believe this to be legitimate.

Looks like the Sun got it WRONG this year the, sorry ^_^

Your whole argumentation about Simon/Glee isn't grounded at all now :)

The USA once had a Guy like Simon Cowell. He was P. T. Barnum. He regarded those who

fell for his hype as 'suckers'. One of his Shows had an 'Amazing Cherry Colored Cat' advertised.

Many people rushed to pay to get in - to see a RED Cat. In fact - it was the color of BLACK

Cherries! (Doh!).

I regard those who Vote for 'X Factor' Acts, & who get excited by it all, as the same sort

of people who fell for Barnum's garbage! Simon Cowell is just out to suck as much cash as

he can out of such people - whilst making the minimum effort that he can.

Then his manufactured, cheap, uminmaginative Covers end up being No.1.

He creates Zero. He can't write Hits, or Produce, or Sing, or play Instruments. He

just sits on his bum, & says very samey things, & then the cash rolls in. (Tragic).

He likes to boast how many Records he's sold. I'd say, that as he played Zero part

in making the Records, that he's sold Zero Records......

It would be hugely amusing - if it were not so sad!!!!!! Thank God that more people

in the UK see through it all, than fall for it......There is hope for us yet.....

Agree completly on the Simon Cowell thing! and I do agree that the shamefull 'audition stage' ("the bit the public like best".... <_< ) Is the closest thing to a modern day freakshow...

He can't write Hits, or Produce, or Sing, or play Instruments.

But we all know he is not an artist, but he's not supposed to be one. He's a company owner, he promotes and "sells" cultural goods such as TV shows and CDs, he's not supposed to play an instrument...

In the music industry, you have the artists, and you have the people working behind them. Generally those people are hidden, but there are hundreds of them. Simon may be the most influencial, right, but then? As I previously said, he's not supposed to be the next Jesus Christ, saving the planet and stopping global warning, he's making BUSINESS over TV shows and music goods, no big deal. The whole tabbaco industry for example IS evil and is killing people, Simon Cowell is not.

And for the X Factor... well, there are FAR WORSE programs on TV really, moral wise and entertainment wise. The only annoying thing is the Christmas number 1 thing, I could agree with that, but other than that I don't get the whole problem. You have to take it for what it is, a popular entertainment program.

Why Simon never thought of using an Embrace song? Many of them are so beckoning to get the popstar powerballad treatment (Nature's law, Come back to what you know, My weakness, You are not alone, Make it last, Gravity...)
Nature's Law would be an amazing Run-style ballad for someone. Maybe album reissue single for Stacey? :kink:

I suggested that Leona should do Nature's Law somewhere else a few weeks ago :heehee:

easily my favourite Embrace single, in fact I bought it on CD + DVD single

Come on, "The climb" is the best they could have think of? Is Simon interested on getting Miley Cyrus into UK charts?

Even "Don't stop believin' " would be far better than that.

It's a shame nobody has ever seen the potential of Embrace songs to be turn into pop ballads. Not even Westlife have tried it yet.

Why 'The Climb'????

It's an alright song by Miley Virus' standards but still, other than being a wise choice lyrically it confounds me! I do think this will be one of those rare cases

where a cover version is better than the original though :heehee:
