South African Idol winner, Jody Williams released her album in the UK digitally on 4th November, after Wind It was released as a single. Does this mean she'll get a push here? I really hope so, she's amazing! And I FINALLY got my hands on her album, which is brilliant on a first listen!

She'll have to get her ass up there and promote. Without Radio 1 support she's going to head for a flop and BMG isn't exactly the best label either. If she does get going fullscale, Wind It should be the lead single and either Just Gonna Be Me or Who Am I for second single and then Shout It Out for third single. Her album is a bit meh for me, I only like the above mentioned songs and am dying for her sophomore effort.

Yeah, I agree, she needs to get over here!

 

Here's what I'd have for singles:

 

1. Are You Ready (more UK friendly to launch her)

2. Just Gonna Be Me (Same as above)

3. Who I Am (Early 00's R&B <3 This could do great over here)

4. Wind It (One of her stronger songs to end the era and keep it lasting)

She HAS to go with Wind It, her lead single needs to be her best so she can have a better chance of success rather than a better chance of being forgotten. Her ad libs in Just Gonna Be Me are so haunting and the bridge in Who Am I are so goosebumpful. 1 uptempo stomper and 2 ballad singles would be perfect. AYR goes nowhere for me, Wind It and Shout It Out are miles better.

She has to launch with Wind It for anychance of success. Shame radio would butcher it down from 5mins. The intro/outro are stunning

everyone would just dismiss it as a Don't Stop The Music copy I reckon...I don't think it'd be a hit here :snif:

 

on the subject of the album, just how many people have covered Love Is All Around :lol:

Jody covered and released it first and then Ricki Lee, Australian Idol covered and released it a month after Jody's cover went Platinum here. Seems to be an Idol Winners favourite.

LOL @ how it seems Jody and Ricki-Lee rip each other off, Wind It must've been an on-purpose slap in the face at Ricki-Lee for copycat covering LIS after Jody. So Jody must've been like uhm Wind It would be a good way to take a dig at Ricki and her Wiggle It

That totally make sense! Wind It ftw though. It's like Ricki-Lee released a mediocre song and Jody came out with this huge club banger!

Although she has released her album here, we need full-on promo with her in the UK. We want megabucks from UK record labels poured into her so how are we gonna get her heard of hugely?

I think she's smart enough to do it on her own. She's just bought a million-rand house for her parents and she only just finished high school so she's just spending her time and SA sales money with her family before moving abroad. She said in an interview "I am going to go international, I just need to get an idea of how I'm going to do that", it took Agnes a while so I predict beginning of next year she'd most likely end up on the release schedule, well let's hope so. And if she wants to become international, she needs to revamp her myspace and website because it seems Jamali post more on them more than she does. She doesn't even have Twitter >.< gosh girl get a move on. .

LMAO, I love Jamali compared to PCD they're anything but cheap sluts. Jody and Jamali are actually really close, she covered their signature song Secrets on SA Idol and they do gigs together etc. Their music styles are very similar.

I'm so over social networking, don't have the energy for Twitter and Facebook anymore it's not me but maybe it's just a phase. :rolleyes:

I much prefer that demo to the album version, it's less cheesy.
