On the heels of her three wins at the 2008 VMAs, the singer's label announced Monday (September 15) that she'll be releasing her next album on December 2, her 27th birthday. According to Jive Records, the album will be called Circus, an apt title considering the events of her life since the release of Blackout. The first single, "Womanizer," produced by the Outsyders, is slated to hit the radio on September 22. Britney-watchers, and even some of her collaborators, had predicted the album wouldn't come out until early next year. A December release date leaves a tight window for the singer to complete her sixth studio album. But Spears has been recording since earlier this summer, and she has more sessions coming up, according to songwriter and producer Keri Hilson. She's got plenty of help too. In addition to known collaborators Hilson, the Outsyders, Sean Garrett, Rodney Jerkins, Lil Jon and Nate "Danjahandz" Hills, Spears is also working with with Dr. Luke (who wrote and produced the album's title track), Guy Sigsworth, Bloodshy & Avant (who produced past hits "Piece of Me" and "Toxic") and Max Martin (who wrote "... Baby One More Time" and "Oops! ... I Did It Again"). There's no word yet on what kind of promotion Spears will be able to do for Circus. For Blackout, she shot a few videos, did one interview (sort of) on Ryan Seacrest's show and then became a daily headline fixture for anything but her music. She may need to do much more to make Circus a success, Perez Hilton told MTV News. "She needs to do what's involved [this time]," he said. "Do interviews, do a tour. Don't release it until you're ready to promote it." Britney Spears makes a near-maximum 96-1 rise with “Womanizer,” returning to the top of the list for the first time since her debut single “…Baby One More Time” hit No. 1 in January 1999. This is the third time in the past two months that the mark for the biggest jump to No. 1 has been shattered. On the Hot 100 dated Sept. 6, T.I. soared 71-1 with “Whatever You Like” and last week he sprinted 80-1 with “Live Your Life.” Spears’ single is spurred by first-week download sales of 286,000, the biggest opening-week tally by a female artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital downloads in 2003, besting Mariah Carey’s take for “Touch My Body” by just over 200 units. In between her nearly 10-year gap between No. 1s, Spears has placed four other top 10s on the Hot 100, the last being “Gimme More,” the first single from her last set, “Blackout.” That song jumped 68-3 last October with first-week download sales of 179,000. “Womanizer” previews Spears’ sixth studio set “Circus,” due Dec. 2 via Jive. November 30, 200915 yr Author So looking back on this era I can say that even though it wasn't my favorite, it was an awesome one. We got awesome music, an awesome tour, and the return of our favorite popstar back in healthy form. Hopefully we can see Britney grow as an artist after this because I really see the Circus era as a rebirth. <3 Edited November 30, 200915 yr by Tyler
December 1, 200915 yr nice era but me as a fan wasn't that happy, it was so obvious that she was forced continuing with career after her breakdown...and first I ranked Circus as her 3rd best album, but now it's just one bar in front of OIDIA for me(5th and 6th) which means I don't listen to these albums any longer.
December 1, 200915 yr Author http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/4893/88616169.jpg this is just LOL. I think that's pretty f***ed up. How about we not bring that into this thread.
December 1, 200915 yr It was an ok era, if anything it just confirmed that she doesn't really seem to be bothered about her music anymore. I feel like she will do her next album and once the contracts up she will take another long break and maybe not return to music, there just isn't the effort there needs to be there anymore.
December 1, 200915 yr Author Well I think at the same time she was cleaning up multiple aspects of her life, just not her career. Trying to get back on track with your kids, and trying to get back on every aspect of her life is much more important then her career. So considering what she was doing while this era took place, it wasn't that bad. I don't think Britney is tired of her career, because when I saw her on tour she looked totally in her element. But I don't think she was ready for opening up to an uncontrolled enviroment (like a live interview, which is why we got FTR), or performing for a group of people and the world that aren't necessarily fans, but rather the general public the built her up to tear her down, and are now trying to build her up again. Does that mean she should have waited until she was fully recovered? Yes. But at the same time, I think Jive and Britney knew that they needed to spark interest in her music and performances instead of her personal life, which was accomplished. I think if we look at how Britney was this time last year in comparison to now I think we can all see that she is in a much better place mentally and in her career. But even if she is doing the next album just to get out of her contract and to retire, then that's fine. Atleast we will get one more album and a truly happy Britney. That's the way I look at it, but we will see next year.
