December 6, 200915 yr Author Israel - 1976 - Chocolate Menta Mastik - Emor Shalom - 6th - 77 Points mwBLjnN0g28
December 6, 200915 yr Next out is PORTUGAL from 1981, It's Carlos Paião - Play-Back w4eRui-223w It came 18th with 9 points :P Love it  Wow, thanks for posting this. Sadly Carlos Paião dies in a car accident in 1988, at age 31 :( . He was such a gifted artist. His ESC song was a bit ahead of this time and it's about the manufactured popstars who only need to do lipsynching and look good to impress. The begining goes like this: "You may not know how to sing, nor even how to whistle, but surely you won't go off-key, in playback, in playback, in playback. You only need to get it right, there's no way you can go wrong, and even without singing you will amaze, in playback, in playback Put the microphone in front of you, very discretely, keep on smiling so the people standing there won't notice it..."
December 7, 200915 yr Author I'm so sad to hear :( This song would have done so much better if it was sent some years later I like the lyrics :o
December 7, 200915 yr Author Let's go to Scandinavia again :) Next one out is Monica Aspelund from Finland, in 1977 she sung Lapponia, and means "Lappland" were the laps comes from, if I'm not wrong. She have an amazing voice  Just wait to she sings from 2:11 :kink: 3AQ8wRIK3H8 She came 10th with 50 Points
December 7, 200915 yr Author Well.. :kink: this one is funny :P Germany - 1979 - Dschinghis Khan - Dschinghis Khan - 4th - 86 Points f4OptTvX4I0
December 7, 200915 yr Author Luxembourg  I really really REALLY miss them :( They should join again!! this is Vicky with L'amour Est Bleu it came 4th with 17th points :) _orG0VDFqOQ
December 8, 200915 yr Author Norway again! :cheer: Hanne Krogh with Lykken Er  from 1971 :) EkPyjhT2Yy4 She came 14th with 73 points ;)
December 9, 200915 yr Norway again! :cheer: Hanne Krogh with Lykken Er  from 1971 :) She came 14th with 73 points ;) Little did she knew she'd be the first to wear the belt for Norway 14 years later. But not one of my faves from that great year of 1971. Portugal had one of its best songs ever and other countries like Spain, Germany, Sweden, Finland and eventual winner Monaco excelled. I also like very much Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Italy from that year.
December 9, 200915 yr Luxembourg  I really really REALLY miss them :( They should join again!! this is Vicky with L'amour Est Bleu it came 4th with 17th points :) It's amazing how this didn't make top 3. 1967 is my fave ESC year of the decade: Spain is my fave with followed by UK, Luxembourg and France. Very good entries by Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Yugoslavia and Portugal. I used to hate Monaco but know I find it somewhat enjoyable. Switzerland deserved last place and Italy had one of its weakest songs.
December 9, 200915 yr Well.. :kink: this one is funny :P Germany - 1979 - Dschinghis Khan - Dschinghis Khan - 4th - 86 Points I can imagine how bizarre this must have been back then. They paved the way to the Latvian pirates and the Moldovan granny. Sadly, the dancing Gengis Khan died of AIDS in 1993. :( But no doubt they were one of the best from 1979, when Israel were the deserved winner (thank God the Spanish robot-witch didn't win!). Also very good: Portugal, Denmark, Norway, France, Greece and Ireland.
December 9, 200915 yr Let's go to Scandinavia again :) Next one out is Monica Aspelund from Finland, in 1977 she sung Lapponia, and means "Lappland" were the laps comes from, if I'm not wrong. She have an amazing voice  Just wait to she sings from 2:11 :kink: She came 10th with 50 Points A very good year and this is one of the stand-outs. I heard that nowadays this is like an alternative national anthem for the region. But I prefer the other Apselund sister who sang my fave Finnish song ever in 1983. My 1977 faves: Monaco, France, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium and Israel. The UK song was so overrated, no doubt Lynsey DePaul was fabulous but the song was pants.
December 9, 200915 yr I also love Norway 1987. 1987 was one of my fave years from the 80's. Ireland was the inevitable winner and "Hold me now" still sounds great to this day. Norway is my second fave and I also like Yugoslavia, Italy, Finland, Greece and Belgium.
