Posted December 6, 200915 yr This is being released on 12" tomorrow. XfeYJWCNMzU Still not made my mind up about this but it is nice to have her back.
December 7, 200915 yr Ooh, I like it! I'm a fan of Cocteau Twins and I'm digging this trip-hoppish sound a lot.
December 7, 200915 yr It is lovely to have Britain's most interesting female vocalist back.... but this is a bit of a meanderer. It was released in memory of the guy Elizabeth and Damon (Reece, Fraser's partner, ex Spiritualized) wrote and recorded this with, Jake Drake-Brockman, an ex-Bunnyman and close friend of the couple, who died in a motorbike smash in September. There's 2 remixes available, too... but both plod along at pretty much the same tempo and neither really go anywhere. Fraser could sing the telephone book and make it sound cosmic.... and listening to this, I think she just has.... This is worth getting though (it's currently £8.99 on eBay).... as it's so limited, your copy will be worth a fortune very soon. :naughty: A friend of mine worked on and engineered her solo album in Bristol - a full two years ago.... but it's looking increasingly unlikely the album will ever see the light of day due to Fraser's staunch refusal to have any part in the music industry again  Shame as he described it as "dark and moody - not unlike Mezzanine"... :(
December 8, 200915 yr A friend of mine worked on and engineered her solo album in Bristol - a full two years ago.... but it's looking increasingly unlikely the album will ever see the light of day due to Fraser's staunch refusal to have any part in the music industry again  Shame as he described it as "dark and moody - not unlike Mezzanine"... :( That's a bit of a peculiar attitude... I mean, if she doesn't want to have any part of the music industry, then she should just do a Trent Reznor and release it on the net with no real promotion other than word-of-mouth and a few virals....
December 9, 200915 yr I agree, but Fraser is a hugely private, guarded individual.... she lived near my old place in Bristol and I'd often see her in Clifton village shopping.... a real icon of mine from my youth, but she always looked so fragile, she really isn't the kind of person who'd readily enjoy gushing fans in her space, I don't think ;) And until a good friend of mine saw one of Fraser's rare appearances with Massive Attack live in Bristol a few years back, she didn't realise the rather strange, eccentric and loner Scottish mother of her son's schoolfriend was a pop star  I really love her recent work with Yann Tiersen - it's much, much better than 'Moses'.....
December 12, 200915 yr an interesting and revealing interview.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/nov/2...raser-interview
