Posted December 7, 200915 yr Marilyn Manson has been dropped by his record label Interscope after his last album flopped. The High End of Low performed poorly in the U.S. charts - selling just 121,000 copies to date - prompting Interscope bosses to wield the axe. But the shock rocker, who recently reunited with his ex-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood, is feeling upbeat about the firing. He reveals he's already working on a new album he promises will be more outrageous than ever, now he's free from the shackles of a major label. Manson tells Metal Hammer, "We've just been released from our record contract with Interscope so I think a lot of the creative control on which my hands were tied on a lot of choices - the music videos - things like that (has been regained). "I was so restrained from the music that I wanted to make - what they would allow, they would put out, what ideas they would allow to be conveyed in these videos. At least half of my creative output has been squashed, so now I think people can expect a whole lot more."
December 7, 200915 yr Hmmmm, I'm really not sure that he can put that much blame on the record company for the past couple of records being rather poor.... He was on Interscope when he was doing "Antichrist Supersar", "Mechanical Animals" and "Holy Wood".... And, I dont think Interscope exactly twisted his arm to do those two sh!t cover versions either, which were really the start of the rot.... I honestly thought that with Twiggy Ramirez back in the band, MM would be back on top again, but High End of Low is a pretty bloomin' patchy record....
December 7, 200915 yr I dont think it could get him back into good music again, but so typical from $h!tscope to influence his art to make it more commercial to sell more, and then its there fault its $h!t so they drop him :/ But tbh unless he sorts himself out from being a dopey clown, then maybe he can make good music again.
December 7, 200915 yr I never really liked Marilyn Manson before my friend played me some of the Mechanical Animals album over the summer, it's fast becoming one of my favourites, I also really got into Holy Wood and Portrait Of An American Family ('Cake And Sodomy' is ). I haven't really liked anything since the Holy Wood days barring the odd song or two, so I really hope it's true that he can get his creative juices back now... but I'm not banking on it.
