Posted December 11, 200915 yr Janet Jackson: 'Make Me' Released on Monday, December 7 2009 By Nick Levine, Music Editor It's about time we had a bit of a Janet moment. Her recent VMAs performance was a welcome reminder that Michael wasn't the only Jackson with moves, her new 'Best Of' set offers a proper stuff-your-face buffet of dance-pop-R&B treats, and she's even got a profile-boosting X Factor appearance lined up. Fortunately, new single 'Make Me' - the sole new track from the comp - offers her purest pop rush in ages. Co-written and produced by Rodney Jerkins, it's a sleek dance track that tips its cap towards '70s disco and classic Jam & Lewis-era Janet while still managing to sound contemporary. Sure, on first listen it seems a bit like the set (and plotline) of a budget porno flick - pretty flimsy - but just you try saying no to this groove after three or four spins. Oh, and only Miss Jackson could pay tribute to her late brother and issue a come-on in the same line: "Don't stop 'til you get it up" indeed! 4 stars out of 5
