A poor, oversized and under-educated teenager is recruited by a major college football program where he is groomed into an athletically and academically successful NFL prospect.

“The Blind Side” depicts the remarkable true story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher’s presence in the Touhys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle. In the latest chapter of his inspiring story, Oher was a First Round draft pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, selected by the Baltimore Ravens. The Touhys were there to share the moment with him.

The film stars Quinton Aaron as Michael Oher and Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw as Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, Oher’s adopted parents. Kathy Bates co-stars as Miss Sue, Oher’s no-nonsense tutor. The movie also features appearances by several current and former NCAA coaches, including Nick Saban, Lou Holtz and Tommy Tuberville. Coming Soon on November 20, 2009.

Saw this a few weeks ago, it's extremely well done. I do hope Sandra does get nominated for an Oscar, 2009 has been incredible for her!

GOSH, can it be that Sandra Bullock is finally back on track after so many years....??? :o

I'll reserve my judgement on that, cos god knows she's done SOOO much sh!t since "Speed"....

I'm really ambivalent about the story of this film tbh... I just wonder how critical it is of the whole idea of the athletic prowess of young black men being totally exploited by white America... And, sorry guys, but it IS a fact that the NFL and NBA does exploit these guys, yeah, they may make a lot of money, but you can be sure that a lot MORE is being made by those who exploit them... There was an excellent documentary made some years back called "Hoop Dreams" which dealt with this issue... Spike Lee has often been critical of the NFL and NBA as well...

So, I dunno, I feel a bit....uneasy about this film....

Sandra Bullock is back! The Blind Side just crossed $150 million in total this weekend at the US box office, her second film this year to do so. Other than Speed back in 1994, I don't think she even had a movie make over $100 million in the US.

She's had too many terrible romantic comedies in the past 15 years, it was always hard to take her as a serious actress. I think Speed and A Time To Kill were her only respectable movies I've seen before now.

The movie certainly walks a very fine line of not coming off as a poor, homeless African-American being a charity case for an upper-middle class white family.

I recommend the film to everyone...

They address this in the movie as well, and it is very powerful. I highly suggest you check it out. Of course it doesn't totall take up the course of the whole film, but it is a staple in the story line.
