January 17, 201015 yr OMG, it´s f***ing hilarious how predictably shallow this guy is. And the award for unintentionally most ironic post of the year goes to.... You definitely need to wake up and stop being a freaking FANATIC umm...and who is it trying in vain to defend the most corrupt, immoral and disgusting religious organisation known to man? And by the way - if you're debating a point - please try debating... instead of pouty foot-stamping-style posts which make you seem a little simple and childlike.
January 18, 201015 yr Author To be fair, New Line forced edits of the script and movie, including the ending, because they didn't want to offend. It wasn't stopped from being published, but it did have a serious effect on how it was made, which is one of the factors for the films lack of box office and critical success. He does have a point there. But religion is not the only reason why TGC failed other issues like the over saturation of fantasy films in the market at the time, New Line not knowing which audience it wanted to target the film at etc Which is my point exactly.... The film grated with fans of Pullman because of the changes.... Which were enforced by CATHOLIC sensibilities..... <_<

Couldn't have put it better myself.... Amazing how the pro-Catholic Zealot calls MOI a "fanatic".... Hilarious actually.....

Which were enforced by CATHOLIC sensibilities..... <_< Yeah I agree with you that through factors caused by trying not to offend the right-wing religious nutters in America, the film failed. However if New Line had the balls to stand up to them, and believed in the incredible story that Phillip Pullman wrote, as well as Chris Weitz supposedly fantastic original script, then I think it would have done a lot better. I blame New Line a little more than the catholics in this, especially as they STUPIDLY sold the film rights abroad. If they hadn't, then the other books just might have been made adapted. I would say both are equally to blame tbh...
January 21, 201015 yr Of course Grimly Fiendish is a narrow minded who thinks everything that goes wrong in the universe has something do to with religion. And he uses strong words like "censorship" and "fascism" just because they sound cool even tough his topics prove that he has no clue what they actually mean. haha. Okay  [Not one of my most constructive posts, but I'd rather not get into why religion does cause wrong-doing within the universe/on earth].
