December 16, 200915 yr Hmm, I am surpised Hurt Locker is nominated for Best film. It was a good film but was somewhat overrated by critics. Distict 9 was in a totally different league to say the least yet is not included?? :teresa: . And where are Moon and Public Enemies? Both far better films imo. -_-

January 18, 201015 yr Delighted Avatar won. Blockbusters rarely ever win so it is great this brilliant spectacle is not being ignored by the snobs on the panel. Glad Walz, Bullock and Streep won, and of course the fantastic Jeff Bridges. I have yet to see 'Crazy Heart' but he has always been one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood.
January 18, 201015 yr Avatar did not deserve that win. :/ Good movie but really? Come on. Ah well, the fact that Sandra Bullock was nominated for her roll in The Proposal kind of highlights what a joke the Golden Globes are. Curious to see how the Oscars go. Oh, major loff to Mo'nique though. <3 Words cannot describe how INCREDIBLE that performance was. Stunning. The movie was kinda poorly directed though tbh.
January 18, 201015 yr So glad that Meryl and Mo'nique won!! Suprised about 'Avatar' though - glad that it won best drama film, but the woman who directed 'The Hurt Locker' (Not sure what her name is!) should have won best director imo :) :)

January 18, 201015 yr : Suprised about 'Avatar' though - glad that it won best drama film, but the woman who directed 'The Hurt Locker' (Not sure what her name is!) should have won best director imo :) :) Her name is Kathryn Biggelow and she was once married to "Avatar" director James Cameron.
January 18, 201015 yr I think both Avatar and especially Cameron deserved the win. Any director who spends 4 years making a film that is without a doubt among the most visually spectacular ever, coming up with brand new technology and setting the standard the future 3D films deserves to be crowned Best Director, especially when his biggest competition was from Biggelow, who granted certainly deserves praise for her work on The Hurt Locker, but if you ask me it is quite an overrated film. While it is above your average US War film, it simply does not stand up there with the classics imo. Avatar is among the most critically acclaimed Blockbuster films ever and for good reason. I would be quite happy to see it clean up at the Oscars as well, as tbh this year has not delivered any big film that stands out as the favourite imo. Up In The Air is probebly the closest, but it still doesnt stand totally out like so many of the favouirte in the past have imo. A very good film, yes, but a timeless classic? Tbh, I think in 20 years time, Avatar will be considered the classic among the current Best Picture favourites if you ask me, and not just because of the fact it is most likely going to overtake Titanic as the biggest film of all time. Also, no I don't think Streep is overrated. Far from it, she is without a doubt in my view, one of the greatest actresses in US film history. The fact that she is still easily top 5 in terms of success at the age of 60 proves this, considering the majoiry of female actors do not remain successful past the age of 50 or younger in many cases. January 18, 201015 yr "Avatar" being given Best Film is just a joke really..... I mean, come on people...... Cant you recognise a pile of over-rated poo when you see it.....??? Technical awards, yeah, maybe, but frankly, I've seen some PS3 game cut-scenes that I thought had more "WOW" Factor tbh..... The script is frankly terrible, the film overall relies too much on the visual element.... Cameron used to make films that were both a feast for the eyes and actually had a brain as well - Aliens, Terminator 1 & 2, The Abyss, absolutely fantastic cinema..... What the fukk has happened to this once impressive film-maker....? Compared to The Road, District 9 or Moon, Avatar is just plain empty headed, an attractive, over-dressed airhead of a film.....
January 18, 201015 yr Her name is Kathryn Biggelow and she was once married to "Avatar" director James Cameron. Thankyouuuuuuuuuu :)
