I don't expect it to hold onto No. 1, but the fact it's still selling after the campaign puts paid to any notion that people were buying a 'crap' song as a protest - clearly the song has widespread appeal, otherwise it wouldn't still be selling after the campaign was finished.

 

 

But the campaign hasn't really finished, lots on Facebook are still encouraging others to buy it so Joe doesn't get to #1 this week

Of course it's finished, the aim was to stop X-Factor getting the Xmas No. 1 and that's what happened. Anything else is just a secondary campaign ran by a very select few - I'd say maybe only 10% of sales this week will be from 'campaigners', the rest are from those who legitimately like the song. I'm sure some people will have only heard it for the first time on the chart show.

I have a feeling RATM will get a fair amount from their Sunday sales from people who wanted to support the campaign but weren't aware that Sunday sales didn't count for the Xmas chart. Also some people will have heard it for the first time on the chart show as already mentioned. Put them all together and I reckon they'll still be #2. They'll be lucky to stay top 20 the following week though. I'm surprised they are still #1 - that means even if it IS a 48 hour rolling chart, there are still more people downloading KITN than TC.

I think people are feeling sorry for joe a bit lol so they are going out and buying it, might actually do his sales a favour being xmas #1 and looks likely to be the first #1 of the new year which is still great!

Hope he doesnt take over lady gaga's poker face as best selling song of the year..i dont think he will. Hopefully.

Why is that abysmal song Ego in the top 20? Such an awful song. No offence to Saturday fans but i was looking at videos of Stacey McClean on X Factor (ex-S Club 8 member) and i'm wondering how she's still working in an office while Rochelle and Frankie are in a successful girl-group. Quite sad really :puke:

 

Hmm, well let's see. Maybe because it's a generally well received song and it's still doing well despite the odds being stacked against it with the album's initital dismal performance.

What a pity we can't arrange a secondary campaign to back GaGa! She's not that far behind McClimb and she has a physical. I'd still love The Climb not to reach number 1 at all for the stand-alone fact that the song is crap.
