Posted December 18, 200915 yr haha, I'm forever doing charts!!! This really warrants doing though as overall, 2009 has been in my top 3 favourite years of the decade for music. The top 15 singles/top 8 albums are all amongst my absolute favourites of the last ten years, compared to say only 8 songs from 2008 in comparison...it's been a rather different story in my turbulent personal life but hopefully things will much improve in 2010!!! Anyway, I'll start with the singles chart, in batches of five, with my personal chart peak in brackets; 40. Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You - #4 39. Lovebugs - The Highest Heights - #1 for 1 week CseWa_d43ck 38. Cheryl Cole feat will.i.am - 3 Words - #4 37. The Veronicas - Untouched - #3 36. Example - Watch The Sun Come Up - #3 Starting off then with a generic but decent comeback single from Kelly Clarkson sounding much like the Breakaway material, almost as if My December had never happened - it worked and gave her a first UK #1 single. Lovebugs were the rock band from Switzerland who failed to reach the final of Eurovision 2009 with their anthem The Highest Heights, but it was still good enough to reach #1 in my chart for a week!!! Cheryl Cole has the first of two appearances from her insanely successful solo project with the gorgeous yet subtle pop-dance track 3 Words. The Veronicas 2007 #10 hit here, Untouched finally peaked 18 months on at #3, and was a big top ten hit in the UK and top twenty in the US whilst the first of a number of my BJSC entries is at #36. A song I first heard way back in May as he supported Calvin Harris, Watch The Sun Came Up instantly became one of my summer anthems although it wasn't released here until autumn was approaching.
December 18, 200915 yr Author 35. Tinchy Stryder feat Amelle - Never Leave You - #5 34. Pixie Lott - Boys & Girls - #3 33. Blänk feat Young Ivy - I'm Going For Your Brother - #3 pBDk8j3YwwM 32. Jody - Wind It - #4 31. Caroline Jönsson - By My Side - #2 Tinchy Stryder has undoubtedly been one of the success stories of 2009, scoring three UK top three hits, two #1's!!! His second #1, Never Leave You which featured Amelle from Sugababes was my favourite of his, peaking at #5 but lingering around my top ten for a while. A song I sent to BJSC last October, Pixie Lott finally got around to releasing Boys & Girls properly 10 months later and it the new studio version peaked at #3 in my chart, compared to #5 for the demo. Continuing the BJSC theme, one of my summer entries, I'm Going For Your Brother by Northern Swedish 'Eurotrash' act Blänk feat Young Ivy is at #33, South African Idols' winner Jody's Wind It, sent to the contest by Kath, is at #32 and my most recent entry, By My Side by Swedish singer Caroline Jönsson is at #31, having spent a month in the top three of my personal chart!!!

Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love - #2 26. Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) - #5 onwards and upwards, Röyksopp's mesmerising comeback single with Robyn begins the top 30 followed by Thank You, a brilliant Abba pastiche that closes Alcazar's Disco Defenders album. 'Big Big Girl' Emilia's Melodifestivalen finalist comeback single You're My World makes a strong showing at No.28, Cheryl Cole's massive grower of a solo debut single Fight For This Love is at No.27 and rising star Florence + The Machine's first mainstream release, Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) just misses the top 25.
December 19, 200915 yr Author 25. Michael Bublé - Haven't Met You Yet - #2 24. The Saturdays - Issues - #2 23. Agnes - Love Love Love - #4 22. Owl City - Fireflies - #2 21. Caroline Af Ugglas - Snälla, Snälla - #2 cchYQmfldes Canadian crooner Michael Bublé's Love Song tribute and the best song of his career by a mile lands him a top 25 place, followed by one of my favourite Saturdays singles, the gorgeous winter ballad Issues. Agnes' Melodifestivalen disco anthem Love Love Love is at #23, the highest song in the countdown that didn't peak inside the the top 2 of my personal chart, Owl City's US #1/future UK smash Fireflies is at #22 and another Melodifestivalen entry, the classy Swedish ballad Snälla, Snälla by oddball Caroline Af Ugglas is just outside the top 20 of the year!!!

Shakira - She Wolf/Loba - #1 for 1 week 17. Madonna - Celebration - #2 16. Hafdis Huld - Kongulo - #1 for 3 weeks Ke0pQzZQ-6g Onwards and upwards with four chart toppers in this batch, German duo Cassandra Steen and Adel Tawil's emphatic native language anthem about the world we live in and life in general starts off the top 20. Taylor Swift's huge country pop hit Love Story is at #19, Shakira's She Wolf or Loba in Spanish (both version contributed to my love for it) is at #18, Madonna's dancy and brilliant token greatest hits single Celebration, produced by Paul Oakenfold, appears at #17 after a lengthy run in the top five of my chart despite never making the top. Icelandic singer Hafdis Huld's quirky ode to the human Spiderman, Kongulo, is up at #16, my entry to BJSCXIX in August!!!
December 19, 200915 yr Author Caroline     well it has been one of 2009's defining songs :kink:

Malena Ernman - La Voix - #2 hATHT7r8wc8 12. Vanessa Amorosi - This Is Who I Am - #1 for 2 weeks 11. Little Boots - Remedy - #1 for 3 weeks My third BJSC winner, Robots In Love, kicks off the top fifteen, my other winner this year, Not A Love Song by Uh Huh Her, missing this countdown altogether  Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix runner up Tone Damli Aaberge's gorgeous Butterflies is 14th for the year. Melodifestivalen 2009 winner Malena Ernman's popera anthem La Voix, which later bombed in the Eurovision final having finished 4th in it's semi, is at #13 despite criminally never sneaking in a week at #1, Vanessa Amorosi's incredible return to form, This Is Who I Am shows up at #12 whilst just missing the top ten of the year is the summer anthem Remedy by Victoria Hesketh aka one hit wonder Little Boots :kink:
December 19, 200915 yr La Voiiiiiiiiiiix! Hope there's a few more Eurovision songs in there Rich. :D
December 19, 200915 yr Author thanks David, it was SO good seeing Malena perform that live at MF, made the song that much more special for me  I guess it would also explain the appearances of Agnes, Emilia and Caroline
December 19, 200915 yr Author 10. Lady GaGa - Poker Face - #2 9. The Sound of Arrows - M.A.G.I.C. - #1 for 5 weeks v65mLiAYE_k 8. Cascada - Evacuate The Dancefloor - #1 for 1 week 7. Jade Ewen - It's My Time - #1 for 1 week 6. Keri Hilson, Kanye West & Ne-Yo - Knock You Down - #1 for 1 week Into the top ten then with the year's biggest seller, from the biggest new star - Lady GaGa's Poker Face which only peaked at #2 in my chart because of a song still to come holding it at #2 for three weeks...my entry to BJSCXIII, M.A.G.I.C. by Swedish pop/electro duo The Sound of Arrows comes in at #9 having spent five weeks at the top right at the start of the year. German dance act Cascada scored their first UK #1 and first #1 on my chart in the summer with the party anthem Evacuate The Dancefloor, which is at #8, Jade Ewen's gorgeous Andrew Lloyed Webber/Diane Warren penned ballad, It's My Time, which finally took the UK back to the top five in Eurovision this year, is my seventh favourite song of the year whilst just outside the top five is Knock You Down, the super collaboration between Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo and Kanye West, easily my favourite R&B song of 2009!!!
December 19, 200915 yr Author 5. Alexander Rybak - Fairytale - #1 for 2 non consecutive weeks -8JRtGMBUz0 After deservedly storming to victory in Norway's Melodi Grand Prix beating second placed song Butterflies by an incredible ratio of 7:1, Fairytale topped my chart having reached the top five the first time I heard it way back at the start of the year. It hovered about for a while and then when Alexander stormed to his predictable, but much deserved victory for Norway, the song went back to #1 again for me and became a huge hit Europe over including, incredibly, becoming a UK top ten hit - the country that supposedly treats Eurovision and its music as a joke!!! 4. Lady GaGa - Bad Romance - #1 for 7 weeks qrO4YZeyl0I Coming out of nowhere to launch The Fame Monster in the later months of 2009, the demo to Bad Romance was pretty good but it all massively made sense when I heard the incredible final version of the song. I instantly fell in love and it remained atop my chart for seven consecutive weeks and eventually made its way up to #1 in the UK after a slow but steady climb, becoming a huge hit worldwide in the process. Easily my favourite song of GaGa's, this is one of four songs from this year that I would consider to be 'life enhancingly good' although the whole top 15 have been the soundtrack to my year
December 19, 200915 yr Author 3. Anna Abreu - Music Everywhere - #1 for 4 non-consecutive weeks Quick - let's start a Facebook campaign to get this to #1 next year :kink: Coming out of nowhere to blow me away, Finnish Idols winner Anna Abreu's music had always been 'nice but nothing special to me'. This all changed when I first listened to Music Everywhere. The first single to be taken from the sensational album Just A Pretty Face, this trashy, in your face, singalong track is what Miley Cyrus should be singing instead of Hoedown Throwdown to help her appeal to a slightly more mature audience, whilst also retaining her younger fans. The song hasn't left my head since that day in late August and it's truly RULED my life for the last few months. Step forward the new queen of trash! Oh, and it was also my 2nd song to finish 2nd in the BJSC when I entered it to BJSCXX, later finishing top 5 in the Best Of  gH1xmKSAwbI
December 19, 200915 yr Author 2. Alcazar - Stay The Night - #1 for 8 weeks 8IwYiLnZLek How Stay The Night achieved perfection status in 10 easy steps; -Those clothes/colour scheme -That dance breakdown into the incredible key change -Those lyrics -That second verse by Tess and Lina -That melody -That stunning atmosphere when they performed it in Globen -That bridge! -That bassline -That energy and enthusiasm -THAT CHORUS
December 19, 200915 yr Author 1. Agnes - Release Me - #1 for 5 non-consecutive weeks, #2 for most of the year epojlFo8B8A So, over to the song that was #1 in my chart this time last year, my xmas #1 2008. I briefly considered that this song was so amazing that there was no way it wouldn't be a UK hit. But then I thought - 'nah, nobody with a name like Agnes could make it big here'. All hail AATW records who picked up Agnes and chose this as the first UK single rather than the dull (in comparison) On & On. This song is so perfect to me in every way - those strings, her voice, that beat, the chorus, the verses, the emphatic instrumental breakdown which was rudely removed from the UK radio edit. I remember when I first heard it in this country - in Debenhams :heehee: - I was so elated, and then I gradually heard it more and more but never for one minute did I believe that the often weird UK public would see what I saw in this song. So I braced myself for a #44 SMASH, and in it went - at #3 :w00t: the best top 3 hit we've had in years, Miss Carlsson showed that Swedish pop is still a force to be reckoned with, but only if it really is the cream of the crop - and there is no Swedish pop song, that I've ever heard, that is better than Release Me.
