July 5, 200619 yr here's my lifelong top ten.... 10 Ride - Nowhere I like this... One of those long-lost great Indie albums, like "Giant Steps" or "Just For A Day"
July 5, 200619 yr I might need to add "Copper Blue" by Sugar. Such a great album. I stuck "Giant Steps" on yesterday, just doesn't do it for me so much now. That said, "Lazarus" is still a killer
July 5, 200619 yr I might need to add "Copper Blue" by Sugar. Such a great album. The great Bob Mould, how the hell could I forget him... "Copper Blue" is a cool as f**k album... "Candy Apple Grey" by Husker Du (Bob's old band) is a fukkin' killer as well....
July 5, 200619 yr I like this... One of those long-lost great Indie albums, like "Giant Steps" or "Just For A Day" what are these?
July 5, 200619 yr "Giant Steps" was the third album by Liverpool indie rock band Boo Radleys, I consider it to be their most ambitious album... "Just For A Day" was the first album by early 90s ethereal indie rockers Slowdive, a band who got a lot of undeserved bad press at the time....
July 5, 200619 yr "Just For A Day" was the first album by early 90s ethereal indie rockers Slowdive, a band who got a lot of undeserved bad press at the time.... slowdive, ive only heard the name in passing reviews due to members in Mojave 3
July 6, 200619 yr slowdive, ive only heard the name in passing reviews due to members in Mojave 3 I quite like Mojave 3 as well....
July 6, 200619 yr Yeah, Slowdive were great. I think shoegaze became a dirty word once Suede ushered in Britpop - hence the bad press.
July 6, 200619 yr Yeah, Slowdive were great. I think shoegaze became a dirty word once Suede ushered in Britpop - hence the bad press. So Suede were the firsy britpoppers then? looking at the dates they seem to be a few years before 96 in a kind of trendy (so probably london trendy seeing as they were the london suede  ) 'glam' alternative to grunge
July 6, 200619 yr I might need to add "Copper Blue" by Sugar. Such a great album. that comes in at 50 on my list. I made this list last year and is a pretty good attempt at my top 50... i'd change a few things now but oh well... Slowdive would make my top 100 with Souvlaki, along with Curve etc (showgaze is/was definately one of my fav. genre's). to finish off the list: 11 The Reindeer Section - Son of Evil Reindeer 12 The Postal Service - Give Up 13 The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses 14 DJ Shadow - Endtroducing 15 Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures 16 Low - Things We Lost in the Fire 17 m83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts 18 The Cure - Mixed Up 19 The Fall - 458489 A-Sides 20 The Pixies - Bossonova 21 Grandaddy - Under the Western Freeway 22 Primal Scream - Screamadelica 23 Soulwax - Much Against Everyones Advice 24 Tears for Fears - The Hurting 25 The Jesus & Mary Chain - Psychocandy 26 The Cure - Standing on a Beach (A Sides) 27 Belle & Sebastian - Tigermilk 28 Four Tet - Pause 29 Grandaddy - Sumday 30 Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights 31 James - James 32 Snow Patrol - When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up 33 Sonic Youth - Goo 34 The American Analog Set - From Our Living Room To Yours 35 The Pixies - Surfer Rosa 36 Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It In People 37 Sigur Rós - Ãgætis Byrjun 38 Colder - Again 39 Toad the Wet Sprocket - Fear 40 Explosions in the Sky - Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place 41 Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Architecture & Morality 42 Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine 43 Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 44 The House of Love - The House of Love (1990) 45 Electronic - Electronic 46 Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One 47 Elefant - Sunlight Makes me Paranoid 48 My Bloody Valentine - Loveless 49 Soup Dragons - Lovegod 50 Sugar - Copper Blue
July 6, 200619 yr Heh - you CAN'T put Lovegod above Copper Blue that's mad. Tigerboy - Suede weren't called britpop back then, but they were the first of the bunch to make it really. You can't include Blur or Verve cos they were doing different things before then. At least that's what I think.
