I think they might have just started counting with an accompanying physical available, but physicals were still the majority market share.

Why DID Shayne sell so much? I was an avid follower of the charts back then, but looking back on it, I can't really remember/understand quite what happened. It doesn't seem to make much sense. Sales back then were so much lower than they are now, and it just doesn't make sense that Alexandra last year was on a series that was more watched than Shayne's series, was probably more universally-approved of than Shayne was, and was released in a much stronger sales climate than Shayne was, yet she sold considerably less (in the first week). I understand Shayne had the teen girls out in force, but still... seems odd.

Shayne was a similar mould to Will Young and Gareth Gates though, someone girls fancied and would buy anything by him.

 

Leon and Joe on the other hand are not in that group. They are both probably nice guys but are actually quite dull. Leona beat this by being a phenominal singer. Rhydian should have beaten Leon, he would have sold much more. Leon is always going to be an * in the X factor history

Yes Downloads were included by about Sept 2005, befor there was a seperate Download chart.
