Posted December 22, 200915 yr s8VZs7aLJCo Has already aired in America and is coming to the UK in ITV probably January/February time. I watched it all over the past 2 days and i'd definitely reccommend it. I've not seen the original series (which I think was probably for the best as I don't think fans of the original will like it. From what i've read on the original it's definitely a modern interpretation of the story as opposed to a direct remake) but I was really taken in by this. Some excellent acting in it, and the story once it gets going is very interesting and throws about some interesting concepts. When people come round to watch it, I think people will understand why it needed to be longer than 6 episodes... I won't spoil anything though! Stars Ian McKellen and Jim Cavelzi as the leads.
December 22, 200915 yr From that trailer though ... I sort of miss that psychotic look that Patrick McGoohan had on his face in the original. Sometimes you wondered if they were in fact right in locking him up! That's what I found so special about it. That and the music. Norma Edited December 22, 200915 yr by Norma_Snockers

I know there are loads of fans of the original and i'm sure a lot of them will be put off by the remake, but it's really not a remake from what I gather. It's definitely worth checking out. My head was spinning by the end of the show though!!
December 22, 200915 yr I'm a fan of the original series, and judging by the clip, the reworking looks good. It seems in the next few weeks we have Survivors Season 2 starting on 13th Jan on BBC1. Also to look out for in March 2010 is the return of Blake's 7 with a different cast, again its not a remake of the original series, but its a re-working, on the same wavelength of Prisoner
April 12, 201015 yr Author Indeed. It's a weird timeslot though, i'm not quite sure how ITV audiences will take to it. Is a confusing concept. Would have been better suited to Sci-fi channel or something.
April 18, 201015 yr I was so excited when I heard they had made a remake or "reimagination" (as they put it!) of the seminal cult 60s phenomenon. I was quite disappointed. It was soooo americanized it lost its magic. :( The brilliant thing about the original was that it was so kitsch even the music was genius! It had a seriousness to it, filled with "oh my god that is so unbelievable" moments. That's what made it SO GOOD! I loved that posh british diction! This version is too serious 4 me. Whilst it retains some original features like the bubble border security, it fails to give that something extra that the original did. Saying that, I was impressed they matched the storyline and title of the episode. Good job but it wasn't quite there!!! PS. Sir Ian is perfectly cast as Number Two and Jim Caviezel is HOT HOT HOT!!! :P Edited April 18, 201015 yr by paul79
