And the original Tik Tok would not be in my Top 50. That remix makes it epic.

I never got into the new tracks on Don't Stop much - I Don't Like Your Band didn't win me over much :( Not Fair must have been the most played song of the year on UK radio - edited of course :lol: I still love it though, loved her singing it live - great atmosphere during that song :wub:

Edit: Sorry, just saw your comments now. ;o Don't Stop is pretty darn good, give it a few more listens. Songs Remind Me of You and I Don't Like Your Band (obvs) are particularly fabulous. I just love IDLYB so much because of its wit.

 

And Not Fair is amazeee, one of Lily's best. Despite the let down that was the album it's on. );

Psalms 40:2; an epic song about a group of youths who destroy a chapel. intense.

Quiet Dog; my second favorite rap song of the year. look at him performing it live, it's incredible.

Epilepsy is Dancing; a beautiful, beautiful song based of the tales of those with epilepsy claiming that at a certain point during a seizure, your body becomes calm and your mind goes elsewhere. fascinating.

Should Have Taken Acid With You; lovely glow-fi song about drugs. it's just plan fun honestly lawlz. i love quoting it on fb and getting a lot of looks.

Hard; the best song from Rihanna's newest, which i'm slowly starting to believe is actually her best. HEAVY. yea yea yea she's so hard~

All the King's Men; see album countdown, same applies here. good stuff.

House of Flying Daggers; anyone who doesn't think they're really into rap should give this a go. it's INTENSE. so f***ing incredibly good. what a great concept for a rap song. also, if you're into rap, there is no reason for you not to listen to this.

Surf Solar; f*** Buttons are crazayyyy but crazayyy good. amazing opening song to their newest album.

Crystalised; i first heard this way back in like...march or april of this year? way before they were popular (not to be hipster), but it just grew immensely throughout the year. it's a wonderfully seductive and simple song.

Lisztomania; pop fans MUST listen to phoenix. in fact, if you don't know who phoenix are, you MUST listen to them because they're just so universally liked (for good reasons). this song is one of them. and if you're a fan but haven't seen this fanmade video, do so now because it is equally awesome.

Summertime Clothes; ah, animal collective. <3 a wonderful 4 minute pop song disguised with loads of weird noses and crazy backing. AWESOME.

Zero; epic epic epic.

The Girl and the Robot; one of the best pop songs released this year. robyn's is furiously good, and royksopp provide excellent instrumentals. they pick great guest artists, as well.

Moth; a 9 minute epic of a song that changes only slightly from minute to minute, but it's absolutely gorgeous and haunting. the vinyl scratchy-noises make it imo.

Stillness is the Move; sorry Pav, not top 5. D; but BRILLIANT nonetheless. a beautiful blend of r&b and indie and crazy instrumentation. don't see the r&b-ness? listen to solange's cover.

The top 10 is all great so far, 'Stillness In The Move' is the only song I really liked off Dirty Projectors album. :(

Thanks. ;o I also made the mistake of not putting a certain Phoenix track in my decade list. It wasn't Lisztomania though (if it was a top 200 list it definitely would have made the cut- fantastic song).

 

Give Dirty Projectors more a chance. :( The album takes a bit into, but once you really get into the harmonies / craziness of it, it really sinks in. Cannibal Resource is a good place to go after Stillness is the Move.

What Would I Want? Sky; this immediately overtook Summertime Clothes as my favorite Animal Collective song from this year the moment I heard it. amazing. at the 3 minute mark it becomes EPIC. "stop daydreaming, dudeee."

 

1901; universally loved. epic. catchy. the epitome of pop rock this year, an amazing track. you can't deny how god damn catchy this song is. it eats into your brain and doesn't get out, and that is absolutely wonderful.

 

Die Slow; the pure opposite of 1901, dark, moody, furious, angry, apathetic, pounding, urgent, and awesome.

 

Daniel; the most gorgeous song of the year. bat for lashes knows how to craft beautiful music. the kate bush influence is wonderful.

 

Bad Romance; this is an epic pop song, Lady Gaga's finest yet. it showcases exactly what she wants her art to be and what her capabilities are. a fabulous video helps bring this to the top, as lady gaga is all about the combination of performance/visuals/music. basically, this is an epic song. RA RA RARARA, RAMA RAMAMA, GAGA OH LA LA, want your BAD ROMANCE.
