Maybe this time Darius'll be able to just do what he has to, without either overcompensating for his own perceived inexperience and instead giving the impression he was super confident, like he did on Popstars, or holding back being careful not to shine and watching his back as he had to do until he threw caution to the wind, after threatening to quit over the final 4 song choices foisted on him with one intention only, when the round was Contestant's choice!

 

What's happening with dariusmusic? Is it being updated? I went over to try to listen to Caledonia and only got the Twitter link.

 

 

I agree, I am looking at this in the same light as other veleb shows, skating, strictly..he is in this as a popstar, and to learn something different - he showed what he could do in GWTW - he has nothing to prove, only to enjoy the learning and the experience.

I think Darius will pleasantly surprise people with his superb voice. (Not us, cos we know what he's capable of!) Hopefully he'll do really well, although I can't help but agree that Corrie/McFly fans will vote for their faves whether or not they are any good.

The new official Darius website will be with us 'soon' though what order of 'soon' we'll have to wait and see.

 

McFly and Corrie fans are doing what we are here - saying that they'll vote for their contestant whatever happens. I think that's quite normal. All I can hope for is that unattached viewers will like his voice and manner and vote for Darius too.

I am looking forward to seeing Darius in this show.

Apparently Marcella has already had a vocal coaching session and is meeting with Katherine Jenkins tomorrow. She's revealed that she's singing Casta Diva . You'll no doubt recognise it when you hear it. I wonder if all the girls are singing the same song.

Darius has been in the UK quite a bit in the last couple of months. I should think he'll be getting the same kind of tutoring as the other contestants. The new web site and his twitter should keep us up to date when they start.

Well, I've managed to join, and I'm now a follower. Spotted you and Nina, but can't see Paul.

I am so out of the loop but I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Pop Star to Opera Star being advertised yesterday and saw Darius on it - knew it was time to come back here. What is the talk of Darius changing his name - why?

It's a complete mystery but he must have done it a few months ago. We thought the American photographers/ journos had misheard him at the time.

 

Maybe it dates from when he changed his management ( I wonder if Nick retired) and he wanted to draw a clear line between what he'd done with Brilliant19 /19 Recordings and his new compositions, appearances etc.

 

Another suggestion was that he changed it because Iran is not the most popular country in America now, but I don't buy that one at all. Darius is known in the Iranian circle of artists in America and only a short time ago, he took part in those gigs with Andy ?,

 

Also if he wanted to spurn his Middle Eastern roots, would he have accompanied Booth to the hajj in November?

Darn that man and his technological temptations - he'll have me dragged into the 21st century on all these incomprehensible social networking sites I've avoided like the plague up until now, if I don't take care. Goodness I may have to get an mp3 player or an ipod when he releases his next album!

The name change just seems odd

Have you noticed that on DS and apparently in Hello, Kym Marsh has already begun to push herself

into the news. Yesterday she publically (on TV) adopted a stray dog. Today she tells how she was

humiliated by Nigel Lythgoe, and how she has had cosmetic surgery. Someone is organising her

publicity campaign prior to the show.

Darius has never been very good at that. Or rather, his PR people haven't. I've seen a lot about her engagement. Telling the world about that seems quite normal to me.

He could have just decided to have a stage name and keep his other for private usage. It used to be just Darius, then the need for a surname included a Danesh.

He used to use Campbell for checking into hotels
