Darius is one stallion that man will never corral in his stable.

He got his chance but blew it. If he had met Darius part way and offered to put Colourblind out as an album track or b-side, he might have tempted him.

I know, I was thinking of all the x factor type guest performers, it seems they get all the tv promo these days,

I do hope, though, that Darius can make use of this program to promote any new stuff and further his public image.

It's annoying but you can see the commercial thinking behind the move. ITV may be hoping to sell the series worldwide and maybe even the franchise.

I hope they do. It's time more people heard Darius sing.

I really hope it goes well for him.

Like you say Meg, it's frustrating that Darius is equally as talented as some of the guest stars and in some cases more so, but doesn't get the recognition. Sue

Meg, did your tickets come by post, or are they E tickets?
I think SCs artistes are coming into it becaue it is on ITV and thats his stable as such for promotion. Pity its not on BBC they would make such a better job of it. the similar programme they did many years ago when Bonnie langford took part wa excellent with a male singing teacher teaching them and you got to see the final result of all of them singing without voting coming into it but ITV and SC are all about making money.
It makes a mockery of some things. If it's all down to fan b ases - which this method of voting is, you know who will survive already.
But Darius isn't daft. He'll realise what he's let himself into. You can't keep a large fan base if you're never in touch. Maybe this will restart one that he will keep in touch with.

I also suspect that the BBC could make a better show from the concept. I'm basing that on the comparison between the Grease show on ITV and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria etc.

If they're hoping to attract a different audience than X Factor etc, in your face flashy effects will only turn off potential viewers. They need to keep distractions at bay and let it be about the voices, mentoring and performances.

My other thought on this programme is that Catherine Jenkins is mentoring them but she is NOT an opera singer, she has not done opera, she admits that herself. One of the judges the male one is an opera singer and apparently Laurence llewellyn bowen is a classic fm dj which I hadnt realised.
Surely I am not the only one who has seen his name and face on the ads and remembered how great he was though - people who were fans of his will surely remember him and realise that he is doing something and support him and want to know what he is up to now. I thought we had seen the last of him and am so glad we haven't.

In some respects, you can understand Rebecca Evans' complaints, as a time served and still coached operatic performer, as it's unlikely that anyone from the show will go on to become an opera star, though some have more chance than others ;) On the other hand, it is bringing opera to the masses in a way previously not done, so surely it can only generate more interest in her genre of music.

If as stated, it does lead many more people to sign up to apply to do opera at music colleges, it may well lead to many who fail to become an operatic star. By the same token though, it might just reveal some true opera stars, who perhaps would have followed other areas without this as a gentle encouragement. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I know what you mean Meg, but I feel with D's wonderful voice, many of the neutrals are likely to support him over the others, if he performs anywhere near his potential, fingers crossed anyway :)

It's just starting to hit me that I am going down for another D gathering and I feel :yahoo:

Has anyone got a spare ticket(or two) for the Friday show that they could let me have please? I have a ticket for Thursday(one spare if anyone would like to trade) and would really like to attend Thursday and Friday if at all possible, as I am staying in London both nights now anyway. I know it's a longshot as Friday is likely to be very popular, but thought I would ask just in case.

Paul :)

Edited by B.P.

It sounded as though Most of the Friday ones had gone before our applications had been reached - and we applied as soon as we heard about it.
