I suppose Meatloafs songs were rather opera like, they certainly were theatrical - not your usual pop

 

just saw the trailer again - that opera singer STILL scares me, he is rather like a homicidal clown! I cant judge his singing as I have never seen him or heard of him before in my life - I am sure I would have recalled that face,

Rolando is a Mexican (who has taken out French citizenship) and is married with children. His wife is/was a psychologist

and she supported him whilst he trained to sing. He is only eight years older than D. Have you watched the link I gave?

He comes over well, talking on the video.

I've just seen the ad - shows d twice. He looks awful. I'm glad we've seen the Christmas message he made after this was shot as he looks well in that. It saves me worrying in case he's ill. He looked very thin and pale. Mind you, if people were shattering crystal chandeliers on me, I'd probably look pale. I left the video on record and just played back the ads to see if I'd caught it and I had. I'm always in and out of the room so the chances of me being there when it came on were slight.

yup, I have seen D look better...not long to go now, its all ads for the other shows at the minute too, but only ten days till this airs. I know i will have to record, I had to watch PI from behind the sofa - I worry to much,

I end up fuming. I suppose we've met him enough times to actually know what he's like. When they try and show him to something less, it really annoys me.

I think you're right PiP - I read somewhere that Alex James is the drummer from Blur so I assumed that he's not classed as a singer.

I have seen two ads for the show but I think they were different. One showed D twice singing while looking into a mirror and then the chandelier breaking and in the other he just walks across the hall at the beginning of the ad and then it concentrates on other singers. Personally, I think he looks much better in these ads than he did in his Xmas message (when I thought he looked like he was on the verge of going to sleep!! :zzz: ). He is definitely very slim - he's not been cooking himself any pasta!! :D I didn't notice his name come up on the screen but I saw Bernie Nolan and Danny Jones mentioned. Was his name shown? and if so, was he Darius Danesh or Darius Campbell?

Why am I always wrong :lol: I think I read he was the drummer over on DS somewhere! (I'll blame them! :D ) The ITV page mentions seven singers but still lists the eight contestants so I don't think anyone has dropped out.

I'm surprised in one way that Darius has chosen to do this show because he always said he wouldn't do another reality show.

 

On the other hand, I think he's making decisions as he always has.................... with his heart. I suspect he's doing it in order to work with one of the best in his field and to challenge himself to see how much more he can get out of his voice. Getting the chance to sing opera as a soloist seems to me like a natural progression from the West End. He's been there, done that and he's more than held his own.

 

Personally I prefer this move to the alternative - losing Darius to acting and/or the US completely.

 

If doing it helps to raise his profile for the release of the new album, that will be a bonus but I don't think that's his principal motive.
