i hope they give him the right part of the aria to sing. All this is assumption because we don't actually know for certain that it is that one.

They definitely have done some work on several arias. Marcella says in her blog that she's singing in German in week 3.

She is singing in german in week 3 must mean she expects to get through to that week.

I don't think it's anything to do with expectation. I bet Alex James had 3 or 4 in his locker too.

I think they have to have them in advance to learn their "script". It isn't easy knowing what comes next in a foreign language you're unfamiliar with. The vocal coaches won't have enough time to take them through them line by line by rote. They can correct mispronunciation and get them to semi fit the words to the tune before Katherine and Rolando take over wh\t is shaping up to be an aria.

.

I would agree that they are likely to have been given multiple arias for the weeks on the show, as I posted earlier. It may not express expectation on her part(though I feel it does) but it's certainly a little presumptuous to be discussing the language of the aria you might be singing in week 3, before you have even completed and survived week 2 IMO. Can anyone on here imagine D doing this, because I can't!

too true, heaven forbid Darius would be so cocky as to be talking about week 3,

wierd how the arrogance of so many other celebs goes under peoples radars, yet with D its like they read it into anything - all he said was I am a singer/songwriter and westend actor and someone on one forum was off about him being full of himself - yet he said less than most did!! beggers belief

how many arias are there in Carmen..if Darius is sure it is Carmen, Marcella knows what she is singing so I assume D does or he wouldnt have said.

I would find it astonishing if knowing a famous Baritone aria was from Carmen(Toreador to me is more well known than Nessum)they gave him a tenor again, or an unknown one.

Yeah I want him to have freedom to roam. It's a vibrant scene and he can't do it justice standing behind a mike.

Darius can do it.............. Think "I'm Your Man" with some operatic attitude.............. but only if he isn't held back in some way in order to make it look like they're all still equals.

They might not like it but he's jumped through all the singing and songwriting hoops - he is a singer/songwriter and he's done more than one lead role in the West End and originated a role for which he got considerable critical acclaim. OK, he hasn't had an Olivier yet but he is undoubtedly a West End actor

I know it's the chorus which is well known but my preference would be for them to skip repetitions of it and go for both verses and a couple of choruses, if they have time.

I really can't see how one would cut it down to 2 minutes or less without cutting through the building passion and excitement of the piece.

They're are only 7 of them. 7 x5 =35 minutes from a show of 90 minutes. Sing the whole aria. Cut out the chat with Myleene and go straight to the judges.

We'll find out tonight. I wonder if they just have a little of the mentoring and then a slightly longer section of the aria. One verse. one chorus? Not long to wait. I hope it goes well.

:o More like have the interview with Mylene and cut two of the judges for me :P or even all of the judges if it means we keep Mylene :D

All this uncertainty, my stomach is churning already. It's the knowing that even if Darius is the best, it could all still go wrong. Sue
Darius must have known he'd be putting his head in the noose but Rolando Villazon that was too great a bait for someone like Darius who wants to keep on learning bout his art. He can live with the uncertainty. So can we.

On Darius' twitter

No dairy, no wheat, 6 small meals per day... Let's hope this helps my voice as it's supposed to! Hope you guys enjoy my performance! D x15 MINUTES AGO

What? The poor guy's thin enough. Buy him a Kit Kat.

Anyone see the preview video for week 2? That's Italian that Katherine and Rolando are arguing about. Since when was there Italian in Carmen?

I like the video about making the ad introduced by Darius.

I know we dont know which part he may be singing but I hope it is recognisable if only for the public because it wont be a level playing field if some have known arias and some dont.
