Does anyone other than BT speak fluent french? It would be interesting to know what someone who does feels about his diction.

 

Is it me, or is it weird seeing D asking for votes? I can't ever remember him doing that(though it could well have happened before), and I've never heard him be remotely critical of anyone else that I can remember either.

We didn't used to have twitter or facebook. It'll be good to hear what BT has to say. Others have said that his french wasn't bad, just a few mispronunciations. Why is Rolando more critical of him rather than anyone else.

Rolando was critical of D, but it wasn't only D. I like him and respect what he has done and said so far on this show. It's just such a crying shame that Meatloaf and LLB are there because one is cringeworthy every time he speaks and the other's presence is all but pointless IMO

I've listened to it again and I can't hear much wrong with his French. I could hear virtually every word clearly so I don't know what the judges thought the problem was. He maybe got a bit tied at "Les spectateurs s'interpellent a grand fracas" but he was heading for a high note there and maybe split his concentration.

 

Laurence is a bit harsh on Darius considering he told Kym last week that her French didn't matter because we won at Waterloo.

Now I am doubly sure LLB is a waste of space :angry: Thanks BT it's good to know he did alright :)

Now that I've gone back to his intro - that's the exact line they were fighting over!

 

Great a Welsh lady and a Mexican guy are telling him how to speak French and neither of them would have sung the song.

First of all OMG did Darius look Hot or what :heart: !!........OMG he was Awesome wasn't he, and i loved the way he put some acting into it as well as the singing, he really put his all into it again!

Hate the way Ronaldo (or whatever he's called) seems to have it in for him though, he got on my nerves last night with his "chuka chuka"!I think he sees Darius as a threat,coz he knows he is just sooo Damn good!

A novice baritone is not a threat to an established tenor who is regarded as one of the best in the world. Maybe the argument between him and Katharine took over. Laurence should maybe go home.

I think Rolando is being an honest judge. He was referring to one bit where he thought Darius had made a mess of his French.

 

Laurence annoyed me by saying he couldn't understand a word of it. Darius was just as clear at the beginning as Dmitri ????? on the first video posted here. Listen to the two side by side. There's a youtube of Darius.

I can only assume LLB isnt as good at french as he makes out - or did he speak after Rolando, and jump on the mention of the french, but took it that rolando meant the whole song..so took that up, trying to look as if he was really into the languages

Shame he shaved his chest hair. He could do with building up - he doesn't seem to be in good condition. Still, I prefer the rougher look and I listen with eyes closed anyway as I can listen better that way. I loved the performance. Thanks BP for putting that on.

 

Mum loved it too but under 1min 50 is not long enough.

It was a good performance, sounds better each time I hear it. I felt he was a little short changed by how they'd cut this aria and also that the tempo was somewhat slower than I'd seen on the youtube versions. He should have had more of the chorus to sing and at a slightly faster pace, and then the audience would have been compelled to clap along spontaneously.

 

Pip, is your computer broken or do you just not have any speakers?

it is one we got cheap, as our other one broke..and this one doesnt have a sound card!! its functional but no sound must get a new pc
