Thank you munchkin. Glad to see Rolando has replied in the right vein. One does wonder what all the fuss is about surely they are not scared of competition.

Hi - I think you may like to read this :D : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandra...how-Rupert.html

Pleased to see Darius doing so well.

Thanks for this. At the bottom of the article, underneath, it says

Get the new album with songs from the show. Order now, with a link to Amazon. Does it mean songs sung by the contestants or songs that were used on the show? :???: Sue

I can't even begin to tell you how I feel about the snobs. When Will was asked to be a judge on the Short Story panel I was :arrr: at some of the denigrating comments insinuating that because he's"just a 'pop' singer" he doesn't have a brain and therefore incapable of reading or judging another's work. And that's just a miniscule example..... but I don't need to tell all you that!!!!

I think the poor souls feel threatened by Will, Darius and Gareth - they've all got such a wealth of talents and are decent, considerate people too. When they stretch and do something new they do it to the best of their ability.
Didn't you know that singing pop songs makes your brain turn to slush and trickle out of your ears? Any intelligence is just a facade after that. I remember one interviewer being surprised that Darius actually read. Obviously the same for Will then.

That time the broadsheet journalist was probing because he thought Darius had just burbled out a the name of a classic book and he wanted to expose the sham but Darius quoted the whole of the final paragraph verbatim as his reason for loving the book so much.? Serves the guy right for assuming ignorance just because some one is good looking and sings pop songs.

Darius was studying Literature and Shakespeare as a specialism.

A love of literature stays with one always.

Not a word. It's a shame as I'd like to listen before his performance

I do have a feeling he's going to do 'Granada' well though.

Sorry, only just got on line. Is this it then or is it still just a rumour?

Probably a rumour - but they usually turn out to be right. They could have given him worse - I just hope they don't
Other than my objections because it's nowhere near as wonderful sung by the best of bass baritones, it's a bit of catch 22 for Darius in this competition. If he does it in Spanish it's even trickier to get his tongue around than Toreador and if he does it in English it will underline the perception he can't get a grasp of foreign languages.

Will is clearly very intelligent, and I love how natural he is when being interviewed. Darius can on occasion seem to repeat particular phrases almost script like during interviews and re-interviews(such as GMTV in the past etc!), whereas I've never seen that of Will. He does have some wonderful interviews too though :)

Thanks for the link Munchkin :)

From the Sun -MYLEENE Klass has savaged snobby music critics who have slated her new show Popstar to Operastar, saying: "I will take them all on!"

The presenter, 31, said she was furious with "ageing" pundits who have slammed the ITV1 show as "ghastly vulgar trash".

The series features pop singers such as Kym Marsh and Jimmy Osmond attempting to learn opera.

And former Royal Academy of Music student Myleene said of the snipers: "Criticising the show makes them feel a little bit important.

"But this archaic and prehistoric attitude is so boring.

"It just shows how out of touch they are.

"It is such an obvious and easy route to take and I think a lot of it is to do with their age."

Myleene - who fronts the ITV1 Friday night series with Alan Titchmarsh, 60 - also claimed that snooty critics NEED the popularity of crossover stars like Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.

She fumed to TV Biz: "Who do they think subsidises their baroque CDs, or is the reason they can continue to listen to renaissance albums?

"It is because popular artists subsidise them."

The beauty - whose grandmother was an opera singer - also laid into the moaners for claiming that the arias sung on the show are too easy.

She insisted: "It is all very well them saying why don't they sing Wagner but everyone has to start somewhere."

Myleene added: "If they are trying to protect a genre of music and keep it for a certain type of person, it just shows how antiquated their thinking is.

"It's easy for them to say this stuff from the comfort of their study but they should get up and have a go too. I'm willing to take on everybody!"

The former Hear'Say singer went on: "If the critics thought about it they would see it's wonderful. They are finally getting a different genre of music on TV.

"These are pop stars who are trying to embrace a different way of singing.

Someone on ds who is a singer has said Darius please dont sing Granada.

What's Darius supposed to do? Refuse to sing what's been chosen for him? Even if he hates it, he'll have to just suck it up and get on with it.

Darius of all people, must have known what he was getting into, including what was in his control and what wasn't, before he took the huge risk of doing this show.

He's got a choice - sing whatever he's given to the best of his ability or leave the competition voluntarily.

still no clue, more encouraging tweets though from SB and others.

Marcella has posted hers is in german, they must have been told to string it out and not tell!! LOL

I'm certain D had huge reservations about attempting Nessun Dorma, but he stepped up and did a good job. As mentioned, D will have known from the start what the show entailed, so I am sure he will do his best with whatever he's asked to sing.

Bye the way, guess which bozo doesn't know how Granada goes  If that is what he is singing, I will try and take a listen at home tonight.

I agree, BP and loads of post I have read saying why was he given Nessum, and then qualifying the comment with he did a good job with it, I honestly thought if you had no hangups about what key it should have been in..it was great.

can I see Granada being lower than Nessum, yet higher than Toreador? its all so nerve racking,

I am sure he will do it fine, I didnt even like Domingo singnig it on youtube, so I will progbably prefer it when Darius sings it, odd that.,

I agree he will do a good job its just that granada is a bit like summertime to me which vanessa did when she left if you know what I mean.

aaw, Darius just tweeted

"it may be winder outside, but in my heart its spring" good old fashioned lyric from a bgreat sing, but true

I hope this bodes well!!
