I've just heard from Avril and she wants to thank everyone for all their support and votes for Darius which are needed even more this week.

 

She thinks Darius is singing something from The Marriage of Figaro this week, she sang some of it which I recognised so based on that I think it's 'Non Piu Andrai' sung by Figaro - hopefully that's right as that's a good one for Darius.

That'/s nice - an amusing one. I wonder how they'll cut it down though.

The chorus is well known.

 

A lot will depend on what they cut and what they leave for Darius to sing.

 

According to comments here, it's harder for a bass and one of the most gallant bass baritone arias.

 

At last Darius has something on a par with his competitors - something to really let loose on. I suspect Sir Tom Baker will be making something with military influence for this one.

Darius has to attack this one from the very first second. I hope Rolando will make that clear to him. On both Nessun Dorma and Granada he started in tender some would say tentative mode, possibly because he felt they needed that kind of emotion at that point.

Thanks Delphi! At first, I didn't think it was good for him the first 30 seconds, but the longer it went on, the more I could see Darius strutting about the stage, belting out this aria Hopefully, he'll get to act this out as Bryn does in the video. I think it's fun would be somewhat lost if he's made to perform it with a static mic.

well I just asked an Opera fan what she thought, and she said it was her favourite aria, and much better than a transposed aria, or Granada which isnt even opera - so fingers crossed

I just wish he wasn't the only baritone. He can't ever match the big money high notes of the tenors and sopranos.

true, and because that is what GBP hear most that is what they expect. Although I dont think Dannys Light Tenor voice can deliver any big money notes, I havent heard any yet..hope I dont get any nasty suprises

Thanks Meg and Rachel. Somebody called Martin (Tull?), didn't catch the surname, an opera singer, was being interviewed on the local radio today and PSTOS came up. He said the girls were all superior to the boys, and the one he thought deserved mention was Kym Marsh, although he was backing Marcella. Am I missing something? Sue
