releases; week #01 2009

singles;

The first full week of 2010 brings a wide range of full releases in the singles chart. Perhaps the one which will do best in the chart this week is Dutch DJ Sidney Samson’s ‘Riverside (Let’s Go!)’ which is at #02 on the iTunes chart as I write this. Wizard Sleeve also features on this vocal version of the track, which has provided Samson with top 20 hits in Australia, Belgium and Holland. We also welcome the full release of ‘Replay’ from Keidran Jones, better known to the public as Iyaz. His debut single is off his first studio album ‘My Life’; scheduled for release sometime in 2010. The single has already brought him success elsewhere, reaching #02 in America and New Zealand and top 10 in Australia and Canada. The single also sits at #06 on the World Chart, and might just be the start of a bright future for the R&B singer, whose is signed to ‘Beautiful Girls’ singer Sean Kingston’s Beluga Heights company. This week’s chart battle looks like a fight between these two singles, with both looking likely to sell big in their first week on the chart.

This week also brings the physical release of the Saturdays ‘Ego’; the second single off their second album ‘Wordshaker’. The single is currently sitting at #17 in the official chart and the girls will be hoping it climbs into the top 10, bringing them their 6th top 10 it in UK. Other releases this week include The Temper Trap’s ‘Fader’ which will be looking to build on previous chart entry 'Sweet Disposition' and possibly scoring a second top 10 hit for the band. This week also sees the release of new singles from Simian Mobile Disco, Yeasayer and Lostprophets amongst others.

albums;

The first week in 2010 is a very slow week for albums with only two being released. ’Elvis 75’ is a 4cd set which celebrates 75 years since the anniversary of Elvis’ birth, and showcases 100 songs from 1953 and 2002. The only other release is Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ ’The Road’; the official soundtrack to the film based on the Cormac McCarthy book of the same name. Next week’s chart looks a little more exciting, with releases from Esmee Denters, Vampire Weekend and Delphic amongst others.
