Posted July 4, 200619 yr With the news that London's Left hand shop has closed after 40 years due to increasing ground rents. The question is will there be any interesting shops left in the high street or will high rents kill them all off
July 5, 200619 yr Online is the way forward, no rents no shoplifting chavs, bigger instant marketplace etc I can see more and more stores disappearing and going online only
July 5, 200619 yr There was a huge rent-hike on Regent's Street in London last year and loads of shops (including the one my girlfriend used to work in..) were closed down earlier this year. But, hey, guess what... The asshole landlords actually woke up and smelled the coffee and have actually decreased rents not so long ago, according to my girlfriend, who is working now in a different shop in Regent's Street (for about seven grand a year more and as an assistant manager, so it turned out to be a good thing her other shop got shut down... ). Yeah, they finally realised that they were cutting off their noses to spite their face.... Morons.... <_<
