November 2, 201014 yr A single is a tricker for an album-buyer I guess. So I think the additional album counts for compiling a chart has a value.
November 3, 201014 yr It can be. But you just can't tell if it is for every buyer. Then you also have to include compilation sales, because they are even more influenced by the hits they contain. But there, too, you can't tell which of the songs were the reason for the buyer to get it. The rule may have made sense in the US charts of the 90s, where a lot of hits weren't released as a single so they didn't chart in the Hot 100, but today it isn't necessary to include album sales as digital sales show fully what is popular and what's not.
November 3, 201014 yr I think you're not right. The current Euro 200 contains several tracks which mainly score by album and lesser with airplay or downloads. Santana - While my guitar gently weeps Aaron - Seeds of gold Mumford & Sons - White blank page Eric Clapton - When somebody thinks you're beautiful Ozzy Osbourne - Life won't wait Robert Plant - Angel Dance Robert Plant - You can't buy my love Phil Collins - Love is like a heatwave I guess there are some more tracks in the chart. I think the PDA & AAS system will add a positive contribution in the way of compiling modern charts.
November 3, 201014 yr Your argumentation is somehow misleading. The presence of these songs in the chart doesn't prove that the method of compiling the chart is correct. It's just the consequence of this method. Are these songs singles anywhere? Or do they have significant digital sales? (I really have no idea) If not, how can anyone know that these songs are more popular than other ones on the respective albums? And I don't get what should be "modern" with this way of compiling? The importance of albums today is lower than it was ever before. It would be modern if it contained Streaming plays instead, or maybe even Youtube views. But album sales? Hell, no :D Edited November 3, 201014 yr by AshDeluxe
November 3, 201014 yr I guess we don't agree about this anyway. In my opinion it's not important if album-buyers buy the (physical or digital) album because of the single track or else. The track has been sold, so it counts in the PDA & AAS-system. I guess that fair.
November 3, 201014 yr Anyways, back to the France singles chart I assume this weeks top 20 is the same as last week albeit in a different order? :D
