Out of interest, how are chart points determined?

Eg; 23 251 Daniel Schuhmacher - Anything But Love

251 is highest chart points for any no. 1 in Germany last year. Does 251 represent 251 sales? Or is it worked out as 251,000 ÷ 1000 = 251 points?

No, 251 means that the song had 25.1% of all sales of the top 100 songs in that week.

Those points are added each week to calculate the year end chart.

At least it's only been in their chart for six months. What about 'Ein Stern'? :o 101 weeks inside the top 100. Is that consecutive as well without ever dropping out of the top 100 and re-entering weeks later?

That's like how people in the UK are still buying 'Chasing Cars' by Snow Patrol - and that's over three years old now. :drama:

that wasn't quite all consecutive, he comes back every now and then...it did have about 40 weeks in the top ten though and god knows how many at #1 :drama: it's a catchy song but really doesn't deserve such success

101 non-consecutive weeks.

Actually I just thought about it and 'Ein Stern' first charted in January 2007. Still impressive for a song that's now also three years old still charting in Germany. The most successful single in Germany throughout the whole of the last decade? :o

I remember 'Anton Aus Tirol' which was a big hit in central Europe in 1999/2000. DJ Otzi and his brand of Euro-schlager. Even 'Hey Baby' was a big no. 1 hit in the UK in 2001, almost a year after its release in Germany.

Who'd have thought, of all Austrian artists, DJ Otzi would become one of the most successful.

BTW don't expect many new entries and movements next week either. There are no big new releases only some "schlager" singles.

What's happening with Ke$ha 'TiK ToK' in Germany? It's only just charted in Austria (no. 5) and climbs to no. 3 in Switzerland (no. 3) so I can only assume it's a forthcoming new release. Maybe a future no. 1 hit in Germany?

If I remember well, it can chart in two weeks ;)

It's doing really well in the download charts, so I guess it will go top five ;)
