January 8, 201015 yr Author Press Release Will Young set to headline at South Devon’s First Festival Newton Abbot is set to be the rocking venue for another great concert, when Will Young headlines South Devon Festival at Newton Abbot racecourse on Saturday 24th July 2010. This is the first of many Summer dates to be announced for Will in 2010. The 31 year old, who shot to fame after winning ITV’s Pop Idol eight years ago has sold more than eight million records. He has recently released an album of his best known singles entitled ‘The Hits’ which has reached platinum status as well his first four albums. Will has several widely acclaimed sold out tours under his belt and also had the biggest single of the last decade with ‘Evergreen’. For more details please visit www.willyoung.co.uk. Promoter, Tim Barrs of Manor Events said: “Will’s appearance combined with all the other great acts, should prove this festival a really special event in Devon’s calendar. Nothing on this scale has been organised before locally and we hope that families will find it a great day out.” Joining Will are Adrian Edmondson and his band, The Bad Shepherds, The Wurzels, Joey the Lips, The Demon Barber Road Show, The Diamond Geezers and Soul Funktion. Kicking off at 11.00 am on the 24th July, the festival will also feature a food village with local food and drink and a chill out zone offering alternative therapies such as Thanks to Julie (will4me)
January 8, 201015 yr Thanks TT - great news - so it's starting  As I thought the year`off comment only meant he wasn't doing another winter theatre tour. Me too. I'm holding out on the summer fests to see if he does another Audley-type concert or something a bit closer to home - - Devon is a bit too far for the day for just a headline. With Glasto as a astrong rumour that's two now :cheer: We'll have to have a new "Appearances" list for this year  This has been posted on Devoted: Hi Guys, My name's Tim and I am the person responsible for securing Will to come down to Devon. I'm pleased it's already causing a stir and hope loads of you will come and see Will on what I know will be a fabulous day. With regard to the ticket price that someone mentioned earlier. I've tried to keep them as low as I can, but I'm sure you can appreciate getting someone like Will as well as actually getting all the infrastructure together isn't a cheap thing to do. Added to which the cost of actually selling tickets to you is expensive which is why I've had to offset some of the cost by adding a service charge. It's a lot cheaper than other ticket sites and airlines etc charge fees now too. I hope you'll understand and it won't put you off coming! If anyone has any questions, please ask them on here and I'll try to answer them as best I can. Apologies if there's a delay in replying. Edited January 8, 201015 yr by munchkin
January 8, 201015 yr Author He's just posted again munchkin. The festival is starting at 11am and is scheduled to finished around 22.30-2245. Will is doing a proper concert length performance not just 30 mins. :cheer: The easiest way from London is from Paddington direct to Newton Abbot. Then its either about a 15-20 min walk from the station to the racecourse or Stagecoach have the number 12 which stops right outside both the train station and the racecourse. Tickets are onsale from 9.30am on Monday morning. Get in quick, it's already causing quite a stir! Couldn't resist starting a new pinned Festival thread. Can't wait to add more dates. Edited January 8, 201015 yr by truly talented
