Let's hope so, she's so much more talented than them too. She deserves all the success she gets.

I think vocally and performance wise Alex is great I think JLS have filled a huge gap in the market for a boyband in the UK and good luck to them.I think the real test will come Internationally to see who can cut it in Europe and America. Both seem to have alot of teen fans who can be fickle and often latch onto whatever is current so lets hope their team is planning on how they can appeal to adults as well long term.
am I the only one who thinks this is a dreadful choice of single? all night long would have a better option imo
At this point in time The Silence is the perfect choice hopefully it will shift albums, All Night Long would be a great Summer release.
I LOVE this song! It really shows off Alex's vocal ability. Hoping it becomes a smash for her

I must be one of the few people who doesn't think this shows her voice in the best light. I'm not quite sure what it is, but I think she sounds a bit raspy on some of the "don't let the silence. DO THE TALKING" bits. I do love the lyrics, just not so keen on the vocal.

My favourite ballad is "Overcome", as generic as it is. (I'm sure it's melody is familiar)

Yeah, I think Overcome totally copies Battlefield by Jordin Sparks, that's proably the resemblance you hear

Alex on Twitter-Yay! Today is Video day! I'm super excited!!! :) I'll try and twitpic if I can, but no promises! I hope they don't steel my phone again eek!
Is the Silence a Uk single only because Good night Good Morning is getting loads of Airplay in Ireland

^ Not that I know off. I cant see them not releasing The Silence in Ireland too.

April 19th is the same day as Diana Vickers Once. Will be interesting to see how this one works out!

Well I think it's pretty obvious Diana will win since this is the third single and sales will be spread out but with any luck The Claw will be a massive flop (*dreams on*).
i'm imagining a #13 or #9 for this.

I wouldn't be totally surprised if Diana wasn't a hit. I can't see her getting Radio 1 support ... she'll probably go Top 20 and 'The Silence' should be one of those songs that goes Top 20 but sticks around for a bit, like 'Please Don't Leave Me', 'Playing With Fire', 'Hate That I Love You' etc.

Sadly I think Diana is a surefire #1. Bafflingly it's had almost universal praise and seems to have a shedload of early momentum. I bet Radio 1 rape it into the ground.

To be fair I can see Diana going top 5 or so at least, and I can't see how Radio 1 won't support it (there's been enough money pumped into the project), it's quite a cracking pop tune but it's really way too early to say. Wait until early April.

As for 'The Silence', it should push album sales but hopefully another top 10 anyway!

Its not really much of a chart battle. I am sure the press will try and make it one but hopefully the Silence will start charting once the video is out and once radio play starts to build which will be way before the 19th.
As wonderful as it would be too see Alex chart higher than the monstrocity, I have doubts about it happening. Diana has a top 10 posision guaranteed really whilst Alex will probably mange a lower top 15-20 peak.
