:o Clijsters lost to Petrova :o.....

Words escape me, I predicted her as winner tbh, that really opens the draw up for Henin and Safina to progress to the final from the bottom half.

Here's hoping Fed drops out and we get Djokovic or Del Potro to take the title - I needs the money!
What a match (for the first 2 sets). Murray was incredible there was no way he would have lost. Should beat Cilic easily as he has played 3 five setters. Then hopefully Federer or Djokovic for the final. If Murray gets to the final Nadal will go down to #4 in the rankings :cheer:

I've learnt from last year not to get over excited with Murray in case he turns out to be the new Colin Montgomerie of Scottish sport.

So I will save the platitudes for if/when he wins a major.

But yes he was brilliant against Nadal this morning.

Think Fed's going to win :)

COME ON ZHENG AND NA LI!!!!

I'm gutted for Azarenka, although it's good for a player so young to have made three Grand Slam QF's on three different surfaces :D She really is an all-rounder and a very dangerous player for the future.
Raelly hope Murray can beat Cilic. I won't be able to see the match cos I'll be at school. Fukk :(

Agreed. I really thought he'd win the US Open last year, but he lost so lamely there that I'm not going to predict him to win anything until he can show he can do it. Beating Nadal is impressive, but it doesn't necessarily show any progress - he's been a better player than Nadal on hard courts for about 2 years now. The players Murray lost to at the Slams last year were all ultra-aggressive players and the 3 other men left in the tournament are all ultra-aggressive players, so there's still a long way to go for Murray yet.

Gutted to see Djokovic drop out, that's five quid down the drain. I'm surprised he struggles so much in Aus.

I'll now be throwing my support behind Murray. It would be god to see him win this weekend but I think Fed is gonna take some beating.

I'm seriously thinking about pulling a sicky tomorrow. I need to watch the match.
^SAMEEEEE. Midday lecture just isn't happening for me unless the match is over.

Is he going to win it?

In the final now, such a big achivement. Not sure whether he'll win though. I think he's improved a lot already, i'm seeing a lot less of the bottlejab inside him that we has last year.

He played superb today. And he does have leading head-to-head records against both Federer and Tsonga...

Ha, I said yesterday I wasn't going to get carried away... but...

Fair play to him getting to the final, a fully fit Nadal would have murdered him but you can only beat what is infront of you and he did that

Federer will be tough to beat assuming its Federer who gets to the final

Nadal WAS fully-fit for most of the match. He only re-injured his knee towards the very end of the second set. Nadal was playing his best tennis in nearly a year in the first two sets - just Murray was playing better. Murray is actually fundamentally a better player than Nadal is on hard courts - Nadal has only been in one h/c Slam final in his whole career, while, after Sunday, Murray will have been in two.

You're right that Federer will be a favourite in the final if he makes it, but Murray has beaten him plenty of times before (though admittedly never in such a high-stakes situation as this). And if Tsonga beats Fed in the other semifinal tomorrow (and he did beat him the last time they played...), I'll definitely fancy Murray's chances in the final.
