Anyone interested in investing in their music collection will already know about The Vinyl Factory, the company set up in 2001 in London.

The company curates and promotes exhibitions, provides and manages event spaces, publishes FACT magazine both bimonthly and on-line (www.factmagazine.co.uk), owns Phonica Records, London’s leading record shop in Soho London (www.phonicarecords.co.uk) and Portalspace Records (www.portalspacerecords.com) & Vinyl Factory Australia (www.vinylfactoryaustralia.com.au) which provides vinyl record manufacturing, distribution and fulfilment). In addition the company acts as a record label (both independently as Vinyl Factory and in joint ventures) and provides funding through various vehicles for independent bands and labels.

They produce highly collectible limited edition heavyweight vinyl editions of singles and albums, and they really are something special. Also, limited silkscreen prints, box sets.... etc

Recent releases included Massive Attack, Pet Shop Boys, Mumford and Sons, The xx, Air, Primal Scream and the Monkey Hewlett/Albarn project - have a look at their complete catalogue here:

They're not cheap but as they're so limited (the recent vinyl release of Massive's 'Splitting the Atom' was limited to only 1000 worldwide...and cost £20... it's now worth about 5 times as much), they're definitely worth getting. Worth checking out is their beautiful issue of 'Yes' by Pet Shop Boys.... initially available for an eye-watering £300, and now as rare as hen's teeth, it's a design masterpiece.... and is now on sale for about £1,500 on places like eBay. The attention to detail with anything from VF is staggering, and everything is top-grade, no corners are cut.

Definitely worth a look - and maybe forking out some pennies for.

It's great to see an organisation like this seemingly thriving in these times. I'm a regular customer and I'll vouch that all the items I've bought from them are jaw-droppingly stunning. quality like you wouldn't believe.

So nice to see a company investing in music as an artform.... with huge importance placed on the greatest modern art we have - the album cover.
