Posted January 11, 201015 yr Ringo Starr discusses new LP collaborations Monday, January 11 2010, 12:51 GMT Digitalspy.co.uk By David Balls, Music Reporter Ringo Starr has revealed that he enjoyed "a lot of luck" by securing an all-star cast for his 15th solo album Y Not. The former Beatle teamed up with artists including Paul McCartney, brother-in-law Joe Walsh, Joss Stone and Ben Harper on the record, which is released on January 12. "People just came out and supported me 'cause I was doing it," he told Billboard. "A lot of it was just people hanging out and thinking, 'Let's try this'." Starr revealed that McCartney was only originally expected to play bass on song 'Peace Dream', but went on to provide vocals on 'Walk With You'. "He heard that one and said, 'Gimme a pair of [headphones] and give me a track. I want to do something on that'," Starr said. "And then he just did that follow [vocal]. He comes in a beat after me... so that's how that ended up." The 61-year-old collaborated with further acts on the record including Van Dyke Parks, Don Was and All Starr Band alumni Edgar Winter, Billy Squier, Gary Wright and Richard Marx. Starr's last album Liverpool 8 came out in January 2008 and marked his first material released through EMI since leaving the label in 1975. Are any of you interested in listening to this or not?
