it's still going to be hollywood though, but they are jsut gonna try to give it as Jark put it an "indie-cool sensibility" if anything they are probaly going to try to make it somewhere in between kick-ass and the dark knight. I would say they should learn from these people who clearly know how to make comic book movies, but it doesnt suit spider-man, i've probaly spent more time of my life reading spider-man comics in my life than i have reading anything else, and spider-man is not raw/gritty, to make him so sort of changes the whole character and appearance of what is spider-man. I think people assume spider-man is simpler than it is. TBH it would of been better if they didnt f*** up spiderman 3 and then just stopped making movies, either that or give the rights back to Marvel and let Marvel Studios reboot the film, because they seem to make much better Marvel comics films then any of the ,ajor hollywood studios.

But it's always good to give a new spin on it. Spiderman 3 wasn't THAT bad, just for me, a film with Venom, Sandman and 'Green Goblin' was all a bit too much.

yeah but if you read the original Spider-man comics, i dont think you would see a raw/gritty style working for it, it just doesnt go with the overall feel, the characters, the drama, the setting etc.

I wonder if they will have Carol Danvers aka Ms Marvel as in the comics these two have been flirting like mad and have feelings for each other

Perfect couple

my bad I saw the last post on the first page and posted what I posted, it was just a coincidence that i posted it after Jark posted who was actually playing Peter.

My opinions now are quite that i'm quite excited, i thought he was brilliant in Boy A. Wasn't he in the first series of Criminal Justice?

actor doesnt suit peter parker.

peter looks fairly cocky in front of a girl pre-spider bite. not a characteristic of peter parker.

Why did they basically put a sequence from Mirrors Edge in there, looked so much like playing that game.

intrigued to what they do with peter's mum and dad.

best be a f***ing good villian because they are clearly keeping it a secret, could lead to massive flop momment when they reveal who it is.

f*** you Sony, stop ruining characters.

It's a bit hard to get excited about isn't it? It looks good but not as good as Spider-man.

I've just gone back through the thread, and what is with the Batman Begins hate? It is just as good as The Dark Knight, and is narratively tighter, just needed to get that of my chest haha.

As for the trailer, it makes the film seem more like a recent teen horror remake than a supposed summer blockbuster and that Mirror Edge sequence was truly bad. If it wants to be successful and make itself stand out it needs to start giving details of the villain, especially if it doesn't want to get overshadowed by The Dark Knight Rises. As of now all I'm getting is deja vu aside from the new plot about Parker's parents, on that note, boo hiss at Campbell Scott - I can't stand him as an actor.

I think that Andrew Garfield seems a pretty good fit as Parker, I haven't read the comics, but he fits the awkward, gangly teenager down to a tee - not to mention he's a great actor. Emma Stone should also be a lot more bareable than Dunst as the love interest too.

thinking about it, this will be mega overshadowed next year, Dark Knight Rises AND The Avengers, and along with Jark's point, it is pretty hard to get excited over this film, i don't think it can save the spider-man movie representation after Spider-man 3.

also Daniel, Batman Begins is a good film, but it's no where near the same standard as TDK, don't be absurd.

Andrew Garfield is a decent actor but I don't feel he fits Parker, at least not from i can see in the trailer. definatly not who i'd pick. I'm getting a feeling they are going to portray Parker as someone cool in this, like hipster peter. (oh god that brings back bad visions of emo peter from spider-man 3).

i feel like playing mirror's edge now tbh.

The Dark Knight had a greater scope and took things up a notch, had a much better villain etc but Batman Begins narrative was a lot tighter instead of being as sprawling and the only weak link I can see is Katie Holmes - it's just as solid a film in a different way and the script is just as good.

Oh, I forgot about The Avengers, it really is going to have a tough job sticking out, I could see this having First Class numbers tbh.

I saw the trailer on MSN not long ago, and it just screamed out as a replica of Spider-man, I'm not holding out for it, and I know who the villain is, and the actor playing him.

Mikey clearly watched a trailer to a different film.

the only villian i've seen mentioned is The Lizard but LOL if that's the main villain.

To be fair Chris, Batman Begins was f***ing awful. End.

It is not often I can say I fully agree with my 18 month old self. And I've seen this like twice since then.

My money is on Heath Ledger playing the villain.

On first impression that's how it felt to me.

Batman Begins was incredible, Dark Knight was even better.

Released July 3 2012.

If I'm being honest, it starts of kinda promising. It looks a lot more edgy than the last franchise was, BUT THEN the trailer ends looking like an advert for a Spiderman game for an Xbox 360?!?! What's with the dodgy cgi?!

I think Andrew Garfield is a good fit but this looks like the most pointless reboot. The trailer makes it look almost identical to 'Spider-Man' with Tobey Maguire. I thought they'd go down a darker route (like Batman Begins) and try something different, hopefully Marc Webb doesn't fuck this up because he IS a talented director.

Batman Begins is truly one of the most boring films I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. I've seen it all the way through... but never in one go. I always fall asleep at some point. There's nothing to hold the interest. ZZZZZ.
