03 01 Boyzvoice - Let Me Be Your Father Xmas

04 06 A1 - Everytime I hadn't realised until recently quite how big all of the British/Irish boybands had been in Scandinavia :o

Songs I know and liked:

01 05 Alice Deejay - Back In My Life

02 03 M2M - Don't Say You Love Me

05 04 Britney Spears - Born To Make You Happy

06 02 Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch

09 08 Sash! - Adelante

13 09 Blumchen - Heut Ist Mein Tag

Blumchen!!! I first heard of Blumchen in early 1996 on the RTL II programme Bravo TV and loved her first single 'Herz An Herz'. Had I been writing my chart around that time in 1996, Blumchen would've probably been no. 1 in my chart.

14 17 Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby

17 12 Britney Spears - Crazy

18 14 Westlife - Flying Without Wings (well, it is one of their better singles)

20 NE Eiffel 65 - Move Your Body

I'm surprised Eiffel 65 managed to avoid the "one hit wonder" list when this became such a massive hit across Europe. After the success of 'Blue' I expected Eiffel 65 to disappear without trace. They did just that after this single.

Eiffel 65 didn't deserve to be a two hit wonder :( Living In A Bubble and Too Much Of Heaven were both much better and deserved to be bigger hits, particularly the latter

I'd actually disagree about 'Too Much Of Heaven'. Granted, it was a more "serious" song compared to previous singles but I thought it was appalling. They were good for producing Italio Euro-cheeseburgers, not proper music to be taken seriously. :(

did you ever hear Living In A Bubble? that was a lot more light hearted...

I LOVED the Europop album :wub: me and my friend used to sing word for word a song called My Console, which was about the Playstation :lol: I bet Kesha was influenced by the song for her song Dinosaur;

Eiffel 65 werent a two hit wonder in Europe though, they released a couple more successful singles.

...but none of them reached the same caliber as "Blue" and "Move Your Body"

But those were mega hits, few artists have hits that become so huge. The other ones were smaller hits, but did reasonably well.
it baffles me that Move Your Body was so huge everywhere...compared to Blue (Da Ba Dee) and most of the rest of the album, it was quite weak

Reminds me of a friend of mine who kept singing the song all the time at school. It really was huge, spent 7 weeks at #1 in the Eurochart, longer than Blue.
I have it on single, I only bought it because there was an album megamix on the b-side - as soon as I heard the megamix (and absolutely loved it) I waited patiently for the album to come out the following month and made sure I had enough money saved to buy it  it seemed like the longest wait of my life

Can't believe 10 years have gone by since I first heard all these songs. Really makes me feel old. And whilst it still excites me to compile my personal chart, and I still get addicted to songs these days, they just don't have the same magic as the songs from the late 90s/early 00s era. Especially dance songs - why is it so hard to release a "Touch Me", a "Another Chance" or a "Don't Call Me Baby" these days?

I agree, my favourite songs ever remain dance songs - no genre has the same effect on me when it's at the top of its game - which is incredibly rare these days :( Riverside and Let The Bass Kick In Miami Girlcan hardly be compared to the classics :( hence why my top 50 of the decade was absolutely dominated by dance tracks from 2000 - amazing period for music

Agreed, it was just a magical period, I think all genres were at its peak back then, at least for me. It pains me to see people in the #1 hits of the 2000s thread in the chart forum not knowing any of the chart toppers from that era, let alone big hits that never made the top. Oh well.

I completely agree  you just know that the top 3 of that thing will be Poker Face, Bad Romance and Just Dance :( I don't understand how they haven't heard some of those - a lot of the early 00's #1's that people are claiming not to have heard are still played all day long on commercial radio here...

They were huge back then, and many are still played on the radio today I agree. I can understand some more obscure #1 like Black Legend, but Rui Da Silva and Madison Avenue were huge airplay hits, so were Love Don't Cost A Thing and Kiss Kiss.

looking at the #1 singles of 2000 and 2001, I still hear these regularly on UK radio - so to claim that you'd never heard any of these is absurd in my opinion;

All Saints Pure Shores

Melanie C / Lisa Left Eye Lopes Never Be The Same Again

Madison Avenue Don't Call Me Baby

Kylie Minogue Spinning Around

Ronan Keating Life Is A Rollercoaster

Robbie Williams Rock DJ

Spiller Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)

Modjo Lady (Hear Me Tonight)

LeAnn Rimes Can't Fight The Moonlight

Destiny's Child Independent Women Part 1

Jennifer Lopez Love Don't Cost A Thing

Emma Bunton What Took You So Long

Destiny's Child Survivor

S Club 7 Don't Stop Movin'

Christina Aguilera / Lil' Kim / Mya / Pink Lady Marmalade

Kylie Minogue Can't Get You Out Of My Head

There's also that the most recent songs are still fresh in peoples heads and so they're more likely to choose them purely because they're still listening to it.

I really struggled with Heat 1 because there were so many brilliant tracks - it's easy to remove the crap, but then to whittle down 42 tracks into a top 20? :( I might actually go back and re-edit my Heat 1 as I ended up deleting some of those massive dance hits from 2000. Then I'll look at the songs I'm replacing them with and think "but I really like these".
