Now Britney Spears’ Birmingham-born ex, Adnan Ghalib, faces picking up trash along California’s highways after being convicted of a hit-and-run. Paparazzi snapper Adnan, who dated the sexy US singer during her well-publicised breakdown, was slapped with a 45-day jail term and 45 days’ hard labour when he admitted running down a court official who was trying to serve him with a restraining order. The 37-year-old, who grew up in a strict Muslim household in Small Heath, was freed from jail last month. And he will now be put to work scrubbing graffiti and collecting rubbish from the streets. Criminals on the Caltrans community service scheme can expect to report for work as early as 6am for a day’s hard graft along California’s freeways and highways. The punishment will be a harsh setback for former Sheldon Comprehensive pupil Adnan, who moved to the US in 1996 to earn a living as a paparazzi photographer.
