March 15, 201015 yr When do we think we'll be hearing the final version of this? We got to hear a pretty different version of 'It's My Time' in the Maltese national final last year, which wasn't that long after our final I don't think was it? If they work hard, there might be a "better" (note that I didn't say "final") version by next Monday, when songs have to be submitted to the EBU.
March 15, 201015 yr The synth intro isn't that bad. I think Mike Stock needs to re-write the melody to the chorus. The chorus is what sells the song. Imagine listening to 'Bad Romance' and the chorus was sang like how the verses are. You'd be thinking "where's the chorus?". That's my impression of 'That Sounds Good To Me'. The irony at the moment is that the track sounds rather average to me - sadly the lyrics "that sounds rather average to me" doesn't quite fit the melody. Shame!!! :( I was very briefly hopeful from the intro, but then it just went into absolute cheese crap. The chorus really, really, really needs revamping.

I didn't think production mattered? I thought it was alright so long as the song itself stayed the same, production frills and all that were flexible...
March 16, 201015 yr Yep, that's true. The actual song needs to be the same, but production and arrangement has been changed many times in between the deadline and the contest. I know I love Europop, but I'm kind of hoping at this point they change it to a ballad or a Bublé-style pop-swing track. It would suit Josh's voice much better.
March 16, 201015 yr Changing it to a ballad would be even worse. How many bloody male ballads do we have again this year? :(
March 16, 201015 yr I don't mean a ballad ballad. More an acoustic thing, a bit like Belgium's song. But actually thinking about it last night, how awesome would it be if they arranged it like Buble's Haven't Met You Yet?
March 16, 201015 yr I don't see a ballad or acoustic thing working. The lyrics are the really cheesy bits, but I don't think the lyrics would change, so something needs to be done to make it sound less cheesy. And I never said the improvements had to be done by the deadline. I said they could have a better version ready for the deadline, or as quick as they can, as videos of the songs will be put on the ESC website from Monday, and they'll want people to be listening to that better version. I know the videos can be swapped at a later point, like last year, it started with Jade's live performance, but they changed it to the music video when it was released.

Cheesy lyrics don't make a difference. Love can be hard sometimes, oh it can catch you off guard like bad crimes, anyone? :kink:
March 16, 201015 yr Cheesy lyrics don't make a difference. Love can be hard sometimes, oh it can catch you off guard like bad crimes, anyone? :kink: Ok, but these ones are really bad "So if you bring the sunshine I'll bring the good times Just add your laughter It's happy ever after" Personally, I see nothing wrong with the music/melody. I don't have a clue about production/arrangement, I've never been that technical before
March 16, 201015 yr Cheesy lyrics don't make a difference. Love can be hard sometimes, oh it can catch you off guard like bad crimes, anyone? :kink: Hold On Be Strong isn't Cheesy, it's Mira penned Godliness. :kink:
March 18, 201015 yr I think if they update the song, it needs to be by Monday. The version submitted to the EBU then needs to be the final version.
March 18, 201015 yr Hold On Be Strong isn't Cheesy, it's Mira penned Godliness. :kink: THAT etc... The lyrics in the first verses are indeed cringeworthy but Maria oozes class to the extent that you barely notice it. Josh on the other hand is as cheesy as they come and the awful Butlins flavoured sub-Scooch lyrics shine throughout the song :drama:
March 18, 201015 yr Just heard this years Eurovision track for the first time... I wanted to sing Kids In America instead haha. :P It's not a great song. :(
March 18, 201015 yr I really need to listen to "Kids In America". But if everyone is comparing them, then could our entry get accuse of plagiarism?
March 18, 201015 yr It's not similar enough. Paolo Meneguzzi, Scooch and Waldo's People to name a few were accused of plagiarism, and their songs sounded far more similar to other tracks than this one does in it's present form. The Israeli entry has major similarities to another song (which I can't quite put my finger on at the moment), but I can't see that being disqualified either. Edited March 18, 201015 yr by Ghosty233
March 18, 201015 yr ^ Not to mention My Heart Is Yours being one of many You Raise Me Up clones in this contest...
March 18, 201015 yr Quite, and Je Ne Sais Quoi apparantly sounds like a Kate Ryan album track too, but apart from a similar backing track, I couldn't really see it myself... fug6BicHKVU There's so many songs in the world, there are bound to be similarites between new songs and old songs. March 21, 201015 yr Oh to be 14 again :drama: http://www.schoolofpop.co.uk/ I blatantly would have gone :heehee:
March 21, 201015 yr Oh to be 14 again :drama: http://www.schoolofpop.co.uk/ I blatantly would have gone :heehee: The article states: Worldwide SCOOCH scored number one singles in Japan and Australia and were top five across Europe. I don't recall Scooch ever having top 5 hits across Europe. Nor having a no. 1 in Australia - that passed me by completely. Japan I can understand. After all Atomic Kitten (in the early days) were more popular there than they were in the UK.
March 21, 201015 yr Oh to be 14 again :drama: http://www.schoolofpop.co.uk/ I blatantly would have gone :heehee: As a pop group… SCOOCH have had five top twenty hits, including the classic top five Eurovision single ‘Flying The Flag (For You)’ written by Russ. Classic?
