February 19, 201015 yr Found this: Casting for one more MALE vocalist to complete a five piece group which will be one of the acts competing to be the UK entrant at Eurovision 2010. He should be attractive and confident performer and an EXCELLENT singer, aged 17 to 21. All ethnities welcome. BBC Equity standard contract. http://www.angelstages.com/castings/3122?u...gn=185009-feb19
February 19, 201015 yr Mike Stock will be co-writing the entry this year with Pete... thoughts? I'm actually looking really forward to seeing what the come up with!
February 19, 201015 yr I'm really tempted to put my other half up for that casting call as he'd be perfect but I'm not putting our Sweden trip in jeopardy for bleedin Pete Waterman!
February 19, 201015 yr Mike Stock will be co-writing the entry this year with Pete... thoughts? I'm actually looking really forward to seeing what the come up with! as in Stock, Aitken and Waterman :o should be extra cheesy then, I really hope the pair of them can make a relevant song and not something stuck in the past
February 19, 201015 yr I'm living in a state of paralysed fear. Unless Kylie or the Sugababes are our choice this can NOT end well.
February 19, 201015 yr I never worry about the UK entry anymore. I figure that we can't ever send anything worse than Andy Abraham - when I can't even force myself to like the UK entry you know something's wrong! I can see us sending something that sounds like Nicki French's 2000 entry though :drama: that sounded like a Steps song and Pete were behind them. Then again, the last Pete Waterman production we had was the production line polished faux-funk/pop of One True Voice's two dreadful singles - this is what worries me the most. I'd sooner a dated Europop song than anything that sounds like Shakespeare's Way With Words
February 19, 201015 yr I'm pretty scared, as I don't want us to throw away all the gains of last year in the British public's eyes just because the BBC are too bloody lazy to find anybody relevant! :arrr: Andrew Lloyd-Webber got away with it as he wrote something that could've been sent at any point in the last 50 years and still have come at least top ten, but I fear we're going back into Scooch territory with this :(

One True Voice were cheesy but not purposefully so whereas Scooch were a deliberate send up of the contest. So whatever we send won't come across as such a mick take to Europe like Scooch and Daz probably seemed like. It will almost certainly be dated and irrelevant but so are a lot of the songs confirmed so far. I mean Je Ne Sais Quoi and In A Moment Like This sound like they could have been written at any point from 1999 onwards  Not that this is a good thing of course but at least we won't be alone in sending dated pop :heehee: the contest really has taken a step back in time this year, last year's entries were so fresh and up to date in comparison soundwise. Hopefully more modern sounding songs are still to come!
February 19, 201015 yr Nicki French  . One male to complete a five piece - sounds like they're going to try and reincarnate Steps then! The Ultrasonics stated that they "had a recall" after they bribed Pete with a Kinder Surprise at their "meeting", so they may still be amongst the line up  . I hope so anyway, they might be able to update the song a bit with an electro-pop sound! Not sure if it's been mentioned before here, but I've heard of a girl group called Dollie Mix, or something similar trying to enter. Sounds like they'll be similar to the Dolly Rockers.
February 19, 201015 yr I heard that Miss Fitz were in the lineup too...I vaguely recall this name from X Factor but don't recall anything else about them
February 19, 201015 yr Yeah, I just read about Miss Fitz. They could be quite good! (They did the swing/jazz version of Toxic, it was very Puppini Sisters...)
February 19, 201015 yr Oh yes, I do remember that. I didn't love it but it was certainly distinctive.
February 19, 201015 yr When are we likely to hear the final UK entry? Will there be a show where all the acts perform their version of the track then the dreaded public vote seals our fate as they vote for one of the worst contenders!!! The beauty of last year was that Jade Ewen winning was a complete and utter set up and all the better for it. Had The Twins or Theatre Boy won YCNY I'm sure we'll have finished somewhere between 15-25 last year. Oh, and  at GD. :( 'Even If' was miles better than Jemini - a decent vocal and a track that inspired my brilliant mash up (ego alert!!! :P ) 'Even If I Don't Stop (Til You Get Enough)'.

He may have given a decent vocal but the song was completely non-descript...the right song definitely came last...well joint last with the orange Polish woman and the 3 screeching German cats and their fellow band member, the convicted criminal.
