August 5, 201014 yr Christ, listening back on the DMGP performance compared with the final performance, you have to wonder what went wrong for them :blink: In the DMGP: chemistry, check, good notes, check, even the slightest feel that the song is supposed to be ANTHEMIC, check. The actual performance: well, none of it! Seeing as it did so well, I can't help but wonder if Denmark might have come close to WINNING the thing if they'd put out a performance as good as the DMGP one...
August 5, 201014 yr Author They may have come 2nd but nothing was stopping Lena. It's easy to look back and brag with the knowledge of the results but as I'd stated over and over again before the contest, she couldn't have possibly failed the way that Germany usually do - the song was already everywhere all over various parts of Europe. The only thing that put a seed of doubt in my mind about it winning is the fact that it was Germany sending it :lol: Imagine how much of a solid rather than occasional bookies favourite it would have been if Lena was sending Satellite whilst representing Azerbaijan or Turkey! If the UK want to ever win again, we could do well to learn from this approach. Not that it's easy exactly to invent an international hit and get it out there before the contest :lol: I know it had technically only been a hit in Germany/Austria/Switzerland pre-contest but it had been spreading to Scandinavia and Eastern Europe a week or two before the contest...
