All previous ones have been that way, but for this one RFC says that you can have ten and still award 40 points for your top one! To me it doesn't make sense. Norma
January 30, 201015 yr I'm not really sure why it doesn't make sense, I'd never have thought it'd be done the way you suggested. Surely one person's favourite song should receive the same amount of points as another persons, you can't penalise someone for not liking as many songs. One persons 31st favourite song should not be given the same amount of points as someones absolute favourite.

Its just that when previous polls/ratings have been done ... that 40 rule has been the norm. It has even been stated at the beginning of them 'if you choose 10 - then first choice gets 10, 10th choice gets 1). I actually prefer your method though ... so I'm going back to change mine if that's ok. Norma

It still doesn't make sense to me if I'm honest (I'm not changing my original scores though). For example ... say a load of Britney fans decide to post nothing but 10 Britney songs - ranging from 40 for the most to 31 for the least ... and vote nothing else. Those people who vote for 40 songs ... and say in some of those 40's Britney features in position number 29 ... her songs will benefit from 30 points each time whereas the Britney fans have seen her benefit by not giving any other artists anything at all. At least the 40 ruling ensures that people have to nominate other choices ... whether they honestly like them or not. I honestly think that the 40 for 40, 30 for 30, etc, etc ... is a much fairer way of voting/scoring. Norma
