I guess 'I Like' being no. 1 for me looks more surprising because it's not currently in the UK charts, but the UK charts really aren't that inspiring at the moment. This time last year was a different story altogether. This is, imo, Keri Hilson's best single to date - nearly got to no. 1 last week but Hurts had a slight edge. Will be interesting to see how thing track fares if released in the UK. If 'Knock You Down' can peak at #6 then 'I Like' should be no. 1 for 10 weeks!!! ^_^

Three songs? :o Has 'Live Fast Die Young' been a hit in Denmark/Lithuania? These are the two countries where Aqua have been most successful with their new material. I liked 'Back To The 80s' but I prefer this song. I especially like the first minute or so - sounds completely un-Aqua as if it's going to be a proper serious ballad. Then of course the "Aqua" sound kicks in when the male vocal starts.

Well, yes. :lol: I've never charted this song before now. It was supposedly released to UK iTunes last Sunday according to the release schedule so decided to chart it. This song is very "Taking Back My Love" by Enrique Igleias feat. Ciara. Not sure which track came first but they are very similar. I've not actually heard Darin's cover of 'Viva La Vida' as of yet but I've noticed this doing well in Sweden over the last couple of months.

I agree, think this is a great song. When I started writing up my new chart I had this down as a possible top 20 hit. By the time I'd finished the chart it feel quite short ending up at no. 28 - who knows, next week could see Europe climb up my chart to a new peak. Interesting you mention Bon Jovi. There they are at a lowly no. 36 with 'Superman Tonight' which is ok. I like it enough to chart it but 'New Love In Town' is by far the better of the two songs.

I guess 'I Like' being no. 1 for me looks more surprising because it's not currently in the UK charts, but the UK charts really aren't that inspiring at the moment. This time last year was a different story altogether. This is, imo, Keri Hilson's best single to date - nearly got to no. 1 last week but Hurts had a slight edge. Will be interesting to see how thing track fares if released in the UK. If 'Knock You Down' can peak at #6 then 'I Like' should be no. 1 for 10 weeks!!! ^_^

Three songs? :o Has 'Live Fast Die Young' been a hit in Denmark/Lithuania? These are the two countries where Aqua have been most successful with their new material. I liked 'Back To The 80s' but I prefer this song. I especially like the first minute or so - sounds completely un-Aqua as if it's going to be a proper serious ballad. Then of course the "Aqua" sound kicks in when the male vocal starts.

Well, yes. :lol: I've never charted this song before now. It was supposedly released to UK iTunes last Sunday according to the release schedule so decided to chart it. This song is very "Taking Back My Love" by Enrique Igleias feat. Ciara. Not sure which track came first but they are very similar. I've not actually heard Darin's cover of 'Viva La Vida' as of yet but I've noticed this doing well in Sweden over the last couple of months.

 

28 (--) Europe - New Love In Town (28) [1 wk] I think this is excellent, made my chart for a few weeks before xmas, if Bon Jovi had done this it would have been a decent sized comeback for them rather than the average stuff they release nowadays

 

I agree, think this is a great song. When I started writing up my new chart I had this down as a possible top 20 hit. By the time I'd finished the chart it feel quite short ending up at no. 28 - who knows, next week could see Europe climb up my chart to a new peak. Interesting you mention Bon Jovi. There they are at a lowly no. 36 with 'Superman Tonight' which is ok. I like it enough to chart it but 'New Love In Town' is by far the better of the two songs.

 

1. :lol: well I disagree slightly as Knock You Down was my 6th favourite song of last year and easily my favourite 'urban' song of 2009...not sure how this would do in the UK, it's definitely more Euro sounding, I can see why Germany have taken to it so much

14. of course, I noticed that too, and I also find the melody similar to Beat Again by JLS :o it's a bit generic, but he's one of Sweden's biggest stars, I expect I'll be seeing him live in March when he inevitably qualifies for the final of Melodifestivalen (which I'm going to!)

28. It's very grand, reminds me of a typical 80's driving anthem type rock classic, surprised it hasn't been bigger in Sweden (went top 20 I think)
